We all know that we were vaccinated as children, and many of us still have marks from these vaccinations on our arms. We cannot underestimate the role of these vaccines. It is because of the existence of these vaccines that we are able to avoid being infected by highly contagious diseases since childhood. Varicella is a highly contagious skin disease. How many years does a single injection of the varicella vaccine last? The chickenpox vaccine usually only needs one injection to achieve the preventive effect. Varicella vaccine is prepared by passaged strains of varicella virus and is the only means of preventing varicella infection. Getting the varicella vaccine not only prevents chickenpox, but also prevents complications caused by varicella-zoster. Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) belongs to the herpesvirus genus A, herpesviridae family, and has 6 to 8 viral glycoproteins (G), which are associated with infection, production of neutralizing antibodies, viral replication and virulence. VZV has only one serotype, and it is still unclear whether there is cross immunity with other herpes viruses. Humans are the only host of this virus. It is recommended to start vaccination for children at 2 years old. Children aged 1 to 12 years should receive one dose (0.5 ml); children aged 13 years and above, adolescents and adults should receive two doses, with an interval of 6 to 10 weeks. Children and adults should inject subcutaneously in the upper arm and never inject intravenously. The vaccine should be reconstituted with the diluent provided and should be completely dissolved. Inoculation should be carried out after the disinfectant has completely evaporated. For healthy people, the attenuated varicella vaccine can be administered at the same time as other live attenuated vaccines or inactivated vaccines; for immunocompromised patients and other high-risk groups, the attenuated varicella vaccine can be administered at the same time as other inactivated vaccines. However, they must be injected into different parts of the body and cannot be mixed in the syringe. If the varicella attenuated vaccine cannot be administered at the same time as the measles vaccine, the interval between vaccinations should be at least 1 month. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a two-dose vaccination for all people, and its data shows that the effectiveness of a two-dose vaccination can reach 98%. The recommended method for children is: the first vaccination is given between 12 and 15 months after birth, and the second vaccination is given between 4 and 6 years old. At present, some domestic medical institutions also use this method to administer two doses of vaccination to children. preparation: Varicella vaccine consists of the live attenuated varicella-zoster virus, the Oka strain. The varicella virus vaccine is freeze-dried and when reconstituted, 0.5 ml of the vaccine contains more than 1350 plaque-forming units of Oka varicella-zoster virus. Each 0.5 ml dose also contains 12.5 mg of hydrolyzed gelatin, trace amounts of neomycin and fetal bovine serum, 25 mg of sucrose, and trace amounts of residual components of MRC-5 cells (including DNA and protein). The vaccine does not contain preservatives (CDC, 1996). Composition characteristics: This vaccine uses the internationally used attenuated strain of varicella virus OKa. Herpes virus structure Herpes virus structure Made from MRC-5 human diploid cells. The freeze-dried product appears as a milky white loose body and becomes a light yellow liquid after dissolution. |
