Are there any serious side effects for children taking cefuroxime?

Are there any serious side effects for children taking cefuroxime?

I believe many people have taken cefuroxime, which is an anti-inflammatory drug and an antibiotic. If you are not familiar with cephalexin, it is similar to penicillin. It is okay for adults to take ceftriaxone, but it is not necessary for children to take it. Because many mothers are also worried about whether their children will have side effects after taking cefuroxime, which will affect their children's physical health. So, are the side effects of taking cefuroxime serious for children?

1. Can children take ceftriaxone?

Children can take ceftriaxone, but try to eat as little as possible.

Cephalosporin is an anti-inflammatory drug and belongs to the antibiotic class, similar to penicillin. If it is not necessary, it is best not to give it to your baby. If you want to take it, you must follow the doctor's orders and take it under the guidance of a doctor, otherwise it may cause allergies in your baby, antibiotic resistance, etc.

2. Precautions for children taking cephalosporins

1. Children with allergies should not eat

It is necessary to confirm whether the child has a history of allergy to cephalosporins, penicillins and other drugs. Those with a history of anaphylactic shock to penicillins should not use this product. When other patients use this product, they must be aware that the chance of cross-allergic reaction between cephalosporins and penicillins is about 5% to 7%, and it needs to be used with caution under close observation. If an allergic reaction occurs, stop taking the medication immediately. If anaphylactic shock occurs, immediate rescue is required on the spot, including keeping the airway open, oxygen inhalation, and the use of epinephrine and glucocorticoids.

2. Do not abuse

Cephalosporins should not be abused because if they are used too much, bacteria in the body will produce antibodies that can destroy cephalosporins and develop drug resistance. This will greatly weaken the antibacterial effect of cephalosporins, making infections caused by these resistant bacteria difficult to treat clinically.

3. Use it correctly

When using cephalosporins, you must make a choice between mild and severe infections. If the infection is relatively mild, choose oral administration. All generations of cephalosporins have oral preparations. If the infection is more severe, intravenous administration can be chosen, usually by intravenous drip, and push injections should be used as little as possible. Never choose intravenous injection in order to recover quickly, as this may cause severe allergic reactions or other serious adverse reactions.

4. Do not mix with other medicines

Antibiotics and any other drugs should not be mixed together at will, even if they are both antibiotics. Because this will cause the two drugs to interact with each other, reducing their respective antibacterial effects and even producing new compounds that are harmful to the human body. Therefore, when using antibiotics, they must be administered separately and two drugs must never be placed in the same container at the same time.

5. Do not use it before or after drinking, as it can easily cause shock or fainting. Children with weak resistance may even be in danger of their lives. Of course, it is wrong for children to drink alcohol, and parents should not tease their children to drink.

6. Please read the instructions carefully for other contraindications, methods of consumption, side effects, etc. After all, cephalosporin drugs cover a wide range and will be slightly different.
