Is baldness hereditary?

Many people will encounter the problem of baldness in life. In fact, baldness is not too serious. It is generally because people are under too much pressure after middle age. Coupled with mental frustration, hair loss will begin on the top of the head. The hair loss starts on the top of the head and finally slowly extends to the entire back of the head and begins to fall off, falling off a little bit on both sides. Is this condition hereditary?

90% of male pattern baldness is caused by genetics. Nevertheless, the influence of maternal genes is far greater than that of paternal genes. Therefore, a man can know how likely he is to suffer from hair loss by looking at his grandfather.

Several American dermatologists said that on the one hand, certain diseases or drugs that affect the body can affect the hair. On the other hand, it is crucial to take good care of your hair and scalp. Recently, the American website "WebMD" published some common sense about "hair and health". Hair problems such as dandruff, hair loss, and premature graying of hair can reveal your health status.

Sudden and severe hair loss may be a sign of a health problem. Surgery, childbirth, certain medications, rapid weight loss, excessive stress, and thyroid problems can cause hair to go into a "dormant state," after which it falls out in large quantities for about two months. This condition is called telogen effluvium. But in most cases, new hair will grow quickly.

Patchy, circular patches of hair loss may be a sign of alopecia. In alopecia, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, causing hair to fall out, usually suddenly. Most patients will have 1-2 localized circular hair loss spots. In some cases, people may lose all their hair. The symptoms of baldness are not harmful to the body. In most cases, the hair will grow back on its own or through treatment.

Washing your hair with shampoo every day will not cause seborrheic dermatitis. If the dandruff is greasy yellow, it indicates seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp. This type of dermatitis occurs when there is an increase in the number of oil glands under the skin of the scalp or face. Although seborrheic dermatitis has been linked to hormones, fungi, and even certain neurological problems, it can still be treated with an anti-dandruff shampoo. Apply the shampoo, leave it on for five minutes, and then rinse it out. If the condition is severe, it should be treated with steroids or antifungal medications.

A number of common medications can cause hair loss. Drugs that cause hair loss as a side effect include: warfarin, the lipid-lowering drug gemfibrozil, antidepressants, beta-blockers, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and drugs for treating gout, arthritis, and high blood pressure. Usually, the hair will grow back after you stop taking the medication. However, some medications can cause permanent hair loss, so it is best to ask your doctor about possible side effects before taking them.

Premature graying of hair may be caused by anemia. Graying hair isn't always associated with aging. If you have a lot of white hair before you are 40 years old, it may be a family genetic problem. Anemia, thyroid problems, and vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause premature graying of hair.

The son inherited baldness from his mother. There is a saying that 90% of male hair loss is caused by genes. Nevertheless, the influence of maternal genes is far greater than that of paternal genes. Therefore, a man can know how likely he is to suffer from hair loss by looking at his grandfather.
