How to preserve leftover strawberries

We all know that strawberries are food that is very easy to spoil and rot. They are afraid of both cold and heat, so it is very difficult to preserve them. Generally, strawberries sold on the market are vacuum-packed in a small area to avoid being pressed as much as possible. But after we buy it, its preservation device will definitely be destroyed. In order to preserve it, we must pay attention to it. We can put it in a cool place or seal it again, as follows.

1. Seal and refrigerate: If you buy too many strawberries and cannot eat them all at once, you can store them in a sealed fresh-keeping box in the refrigerator. This is because strawberries themselves are extremely easy to absorb odors. Home refrigerators usually contain other foods, even strong-smelling foods such as seafood, which will cause the strawberries to have an odor. Adjust the refrigerator's refrigerated area to an environment of 2 to 4 degrees. The strawberries can be stored for 4 to 8 days. The smaller the temperature change, the fresher and more delicious they will be. In other words, do not open the refrigerator door frequently. For constant temperature requirements, glass storage boxes are also better than plastic storage boxes. It can be stored at 4 to 6 degrees for 48 hours. Theoretically, the lower the temperature, the longer the storage time will be. However, it should not be lower than 2 degrees, otherwise frost damage will occur.

2. Freezer storage: You can use baking paper to store strawberries. First, place fresh strawberries with the stems removed on a baking sheet. Then place the baking sheet in the freezer for several hours until the strawberries are completely frozen. Then just store the berries in an airtight container, they'll keep in the freezer for up to six months.

3. Add sugar and freeze: You can store the strawberries in a ziplock bag. All you need to do is wash the strawberries, remove the stems and cut them in half. Place the strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle them with some sugar (the ratio of sugar to strawberries is 1:6). Stir slightly to distribute the sugar and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the strawberries to absorb the sugar. Then place them in a large zip-lock bag and store in the freezer.

4. Preservation in foam boxes: If you buy a large number of strawberries, you can use foam boxes to store them. When you buy strawberries in the market, you often see merchants using foam boxes to store strawberries. In fact, this method can play a certain role in preservation. The foam box has a constant temperature effect. Put the fresh strawberries in the foam box, and then use carbon dioxide to cool it down appropriately. Cover the lid and seal it. It can be stored for 2 to 3 days. The preservation effect disappears after opening.

5. Make strawberry jam: Strawberries are easy to spoil, but the processed strawberry jam can be stored for a long time. Therefore, people who like to eat strawberries can process the extra strawberries into strawberry jam, which has a better preservation effect and can be eaten whenever you want. Specific method: 500g strawberries, 150g sugar, 20g lemon juice. Wash, drain and cut the strawberries. Mix the strawberries and sugar evenly. Put them in the refrigerator and freeze them for half a day to allow the strawberry juice to flow out. Put the frozen strawberries and the juice into the pot together. Bring to a boil over high heat without covering the lid. Turn to medium heat and simmer until the strawberry juice becomes thick. Then add lemon juice and bottle it for storage.
