What diseases can Wang Buhe cure

Wang Buhe is the inheritor of a national intangible cultural heritage project and a doctor who has never attended a specialized school. He has lived in a remote village in Inner Mongolia for many years and can cure many diseases. What people praise most about him is not his medical skills, but his benevolent heart. In the more than 30 years in Inner Mongolia, he has been doing his best for the local people. He even provides free treatment to poor families. He is a nationally renowned "rural doctor."

Wang Buhe, male, Mongolian, inheritor of Mongolian medicine (Khorchin Mongolian medicine bath therapy).

On December 28, 2017, he was selected into the recommended list of representative inheritors of the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.

A "doctor" who has never been to a medical university, in a village whose name cannot even be pronounced by outsiders, has cured countless terminally ill patients and won many honors. All of this is concentrated on a Mongolian from the grassland who smiles naively and is not good at speaking, which is bound to make people puzzled. However, after reading Wang Buhe's story and visiting his clinic, all our doubts were answered.

Wang Buhe's Clinic

Wang Buhe was born in 1960 in Xizhelimu Village, Xizhelimu Town, Keyouzhong Banner, Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia. His father died of illness when he was 8 years old. From then on, the young boy vowed to study medicine to help the people. At the age of 13, he began to teach himself. His devout attitude moved the old lama Burigedeshaobu in the village. The old lama had unique skills and was very happy to meet a young man like Wang Buhe, so he taught him all his skills. In 1985, Wang Buhe passed the rural doctor examination and was approved to practice medicine in the village. Over the past 30 years, his medical skills have become increasingly sophisticated, from diagnosis to prescription and then to solving difficult and complicated diseases.

Bu He's medical skills are superb, and there is an endless stream of patients coming to see him. Some even wait in line for three days to see a doctor.

Wang Buhe’s clinic is called “Red Cross Charity Rescue Station”. It is the only one in the entire autonomous region. It has the nature of a Red Cross clinic and its purpose is to save lives. He watches it non-stop from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, with hundreds of people watching it every day, and a total of more than one million people watching it so far. Considering that most of the patients came from poor families, he stipulated that he would not charge money for several types of people, and even paid for their travel expenses or food and accommodation: people over 70 years old, people in the five-guarantee households, people in extremely poor households, the disabled, monks, and people under 3 years old. Some people leave their children behind and ignore them, but he raises them; he also sponsors students to go to school; his house is next to the Horqin River, and he has funded the construction of a cement bridge four times; his bed costs only 20 yuan, and patients maintain hygiene by themselves; many patients who have sought treatment in major hospitals across the country but failed find him here, saying that it is the "last stop in life", and as a result they get better; nearby gachas, towns and even Horqin Gol City are all home to people who need medical treatment, and his clinic generates an annual income of more than 10 million yuan for the village; those who are cured are willing to stay and become volunteers; the houses and facilities here are all donated by patients after they recover. Wang Buhe said: "Some people asked me to go to a big city with a high salary, but I refused. This is my hometown. My strength comes from here. I can still serve you here."

Wang Buhe was awarded the honorary title of National Model for Ethnic Unity and Progress in May 2005, the honorary title of National Outstanding Rural Doctor in December 2006, the honorary title of National Model for Ethnic Unity and Progress in July 2009, the honorary title of "Most Beautiful Rural Doctor" in January 2013, the Outstanding Contribution Award for Chinese Charity (Individual) in September 2014, and the honorary title of the First National Civilized Family issued by the Central Spiritual Civilization Construction Steering Committee in December 2016.
