Can I take a bath with soap?

Soap products are rarely used by many young people nowadays. But for some middle-aged and elderly people, they still like to use soap very much. As we all know, many things are used in the process of making soap. So, someone asked: Can you take a bath with soap? In fact, soap is an alkaline product. Generally speaking, everyone uses soap to wash clothes.

Laundry soap is an alkaline detergent. Its aqueous solution is alkaline and has strong detergency. It is very convenient to use when washing clothes, so that dirt in clothes can be dealt with in time. People have also become very interested in the efficacy of laundry soap. So, can you use laundry soap for bathing?

Can I use laundry soap to take a shower?

You cannot take a shower with laundry soap. Compared with ordinary soap, laundry soap firstly has more impurities in the soap base, and secondly, it is highly alkaline and has a high degreasing ability, which is not conducive to skin health. It will affect the acid-base balance of the skin itself and cause dryness and itching. It is recommended to use shower gel when taking a bath. It is less irritating than soap and more suitable for human hygiene needs.

According to the light industry standard QB/T 2486-2008 of the People's Republic of China, laundry soap is divided into Type I and Type II according to the dry sodium soap content. Type Ⅰ: dry sodium soap content ≥54%. Type II: 43%≤dry sodium soap content<54%. In order to improve the detergency, fillers such as water glass or pure alkali are often added. Mainly used for washing clothes. The appropriately formulated oils and fats (sometimes with rosin) are boiled with alkali, and the soap base is obtained through processes such as saponification, salting out, washing, and sorting. The soap base is then made into soap blocks through processes such as blending, condensation (forming), cutting, and printing.

Laundry soap is a hard soap in the form of blocks or bars. Its main ingredient is sodium salt of fatty acids. In addition, laundry soap also contains builders, fillers, etc. Such as sorbitan, sodium carbonate, zeolite, colorant, transparent agent, calcium soap dispersant, fragrance, fluorescent brightener, etc. Laundry soap is an alkaline detergent and its aqueous solution is alkaline. It has strong cleaning power, moderate foam and is easy to use. The disadvantage is that it is not resistant to hard water and will produce soap scum when washed in hard water.

How to make handmade soap

1. Melting and reprocessing method. The simplest method of handmade soap is the "melt and remake method", which uses the ready-made soap base bought on the market, which is heated and melted and then injected into the favorite mold. After cooling and hardening for a period of time, it can be demolded, and a unique soap as you wish is ready. After completion, it is recommended to wrap it carefully with plastic wrap or soap PE film immediately to avoid contact with air. Since no sodium hydroxide is used, the process is as fun as a cooking class, so even children can easily complete it under adult supervision.

2. Cold processing method. The process of saponifying the triglyceride components in oils and fats with alkaline solution is generally called cold process soap. Cold process soap is the oldest soap making method. Making your own cold process soap allows you to have complete control over the raw materials, and you can also customize a piece of handmade soap to suit your needs. However, because the soap just made is highly alkaline and has a high water content, it needs to mature for 3 to 4 weeks before it can be used. From the oil formula to rubbing a bar of soap into soft foam in your hands, the ecstatic sense of accomplishment is something that people who have never made handmade soap cannot understand. Generally, cold-process soaps rich in oleic acid will have a drawing effect.

3. Liquid soap method. Liquid soap mainly uses potassium hydroxide as the saponification raw material. The difference from cold-process soap is that cold-process soap forms a harder solid soap through the crystallization of sodium. Potassium is more soluble than sodium and less likely to form crystals. Therefore, the liquid formed by the soap looks clear and transparent.
