How to clean shrimps

How to clean shrimps

In our lives, many people like to eat shrimps because it is a seafood with extremely high nutritional value. Scientists have long ago proved that the calcium content in a shrimp is equivalent to a bag of milk. However, shrimps freshly caught from the sea generally contain some mud and sand in the sea. If they are not cleaned thoroughly, they will feel very painful when eaten. So how should shrimps be processed cleanly?

Handling of live shrimp

There is a relatively large black shadow on the head of fresh shrimp, which is the shrimp's stomach. The mud intestine runs through its back from head to tail, but the back half is the darkest in color, which is where the shrimp feces are concentrated. Once these two places are cleared, the shrimp will be processed. Here are the steps to prepare fresh shrimp:

Step 1: Cut off the shrimp head at a 45-degree angle, starting from the shrimp brain downwards.

Step 2: Use scissors to pick out the shrimp brain. Right next to the front of the shrimp brain is the shrimp roe, which is a good thing. If there is shrimp roe, be careful when picking it and try to keep it.

Step 3: Gently pull out the shrimp brain, and part of the shrimp intestine will be pulled out.

Step 4: Cut off the shrimp tail, leaving a little meat at the tail when cutting, because there may be a sphincter here, and if you don’t cut more, the shrimp intestine cannot be squeezed out.

Step 5: Squeeze the shrimp intestines. Pinch the shrimp's back with your index finger and thumb, and push towards the tail, and the shrimp intestines will come out.

Finally, clean it and you can cook the fresh shrimp. In addition, if you want to braise or season with salt and pepper, you can simply use scissors to cut open the back of the fresh shrimp and remove the dirt. This will make the shrimp more flavorful.

Cut the shrimp head at a 45-degree angle, starting from the brain downwards. Then use scissors to pick out the shrimp brain, gently pull it out, and part of the shrimp intestine will be pulled out. Cut the shrimp tail again. If you don’t want to keep it looking good, just cut off the shrimp tail. When cutting, leave a little bit of the meat at the tail. Finally, squeeze out the shrimp intestines. Pinch the shrimp’s back with your index finger and thumb, and push towards the tail, and the shrimp intestines will come out. After the steps are completed, just give it a final clean.

Soak in salt water,

It is best to buy the shrimp 2-3 hours before you plan to eat it. Then buy it and put it in water to grow it for a while.

Before cooking the shrimp, cut off the shrimp legs and whiskers. Experienced people can also remove the shrimp intestines.

The key to washing shrimps is to first cut off the sharp corners, cut off the long whiskers and remove the shrimp eyes, then cut off the shrimp legs and tail tip, use a toothpick to pick out the mud intestines, and wash them clean.
