What will happen if it presses on the chest

Physical injuries are very common in daily life, especially for people who engage in high-risk jobs and those who love sports. Many friends want to know what will happen to themselves if the chest is compressed. The chest is the most important part of the human body and should be avoided as much as possible. So, what happens when you press on your chest?

First, what will happen if pressure is applied to the chest? If the chest is under too much pressure, it may hurt the lungs, which will manifest as chest tightness, difficulty breathing, or dull pain. These are all related to the respiratory function of the lungs, so pay attention to safety, don't play around, and cherish yourself and others. Thoracic trauma is caused by traffic accidents, crush injuries, falls and sharp injuries. Depending on the nature of the violence of the injury, thoracic trauma can be divided into blunt trauma and penetrating trauma; depending on whether the injury causes communication between the pleural cavity and the outside world, it can be divided into open trauma and closed trauma. Thoracic trauma is caused by traffic accidents, crush injuries, falls and sharp injuries, including chest wall contusions, lacerations, rib and sternum fractures, pneumothorax, hemothorax, lung contusions, trachea and main bronchial injuries, heart injuries, diaphragm injuries, traumatic asphyxia, etc., and sometimes combined with abdominal injuries.

Second, chest injuries can be divided into blunt injuries and penetrating injuries based on the nature of the injury violence; and can be divided into open injuries and closed injuries based on whether the injury causes communication between the pleural cavity and the outside world [1]. Blunt chest injury is caused by deceleration, compression, impact or impact violence. The injury mechanism is complex, and there are often rib or sternum fractures, often combined with injuries in other parts of the body. It is easy to misdiagnose or miss the diagnosis in the early stage after the injury. Blunt contusion and laceration are the most common organ and tissue injuries. Secondary tissue edema after extensive blunt contusion of heart and lung tissues often leads to acute respiratory distress syndrome, heart failure and arrhythmia. Most patients with blunt injuries do not require open-chest surgery. Penetrating chest injury Penetrating chest injury is caused by firearms, blades or sharp objects. The injury mechanism is relatively clear, the range of injury is directly related to the injury track, and early diagnosis is relatively easy. Progressive hemothorax caused by organ and tissue laceration is the main cause of rapid injury progression and patient death. A considerable number of patients with penetrating chest injury require thoracotomy.

What will happen if pressure is applied to the chest? Causes and pathogenesis: Direct or indirect violence on the chest wall can cause rib fractures, which account for more than 60% of all chest injuries. Rib fractures caused by different external violence modes may have different characteristics: rib fractures caused by direct violence acting on a limited part of the chest, the broken ends shift inward, and may puncture the intercostal blood vessels, pleura and lungs, causing hemothorax or (and) pneumothorax. Indirect violence, such as when the chest is squeezed from front to back, fractures are mostly in the middle section of the ribs. The broken ends shift outward, injuring the soft tissue of the chest wall and causing chest wall hematoma. Rib fractures caused by gunshot or shrapnel injuries are often comminuted fractures. 2. Clinical manifestations: Rib fractures mostly occur in the 4th to 7th ribs; the 1st to 3rd ribs are protected by the clavicle, scapula and shoulder girdle muscles and are not easily fractured; the 8th to 10th ribs gradually become shorter and are connected to the cartilage costal arch, which has elastic cushioning and reduces the chance of fracture; the 11th and 12th ribs are floating ribs with a greater range of motion and rarely fracture. However, when the force is strong, these ribs may be fractured. In children, the ribs are elastic and not easily broken, but in adults, especially the elderly, the elasticity of the ribs decreases and they are easily fractured. When a single rib is fractured, people complain of chest pain that worsens with deep breathing or coughing. There was no obvious abnormality in the local area during examination, or there was mild congestion and swelling of the subcutaneous tissue, but there was tenderness at the fracture site. A positive chest compression test (compressing the chest back and forth with the hands can cause severe pain at the fracture site) helps with diagnosis. Multiple rib fractures in many places, resulting in flail chest. It can cause chest wall softening and paradoxical respiratory movements. Severe flail chest is often accompanied by pulmonary contusion, which can lead to shortness of breath, cyanosis and dyspnea, and is one of the causes of death from chest trauma.
