Many people will become unconscious after experiencing a headache, because the brain plays a major role in controlling the body's consciousness, and if you have a headache, it means there is something wrong with your brain. However, there are many reasons that cause headaches, which leads to most people not knowing what the cause of their headaches is. So what exactly is the cause of this symptom of confusion caused by headache? Headache and dizziness are common problems among the elderly. The main symptoms are dizziness, accompanied by mild headache. (Common name: Xuanyin syndrome) The causes of headaches are very complex, some are intracranial, some are extracranial, some are local to the head, and some are systemic. There are also many headaches whose causes have not been found to this day. Clinical Validation The main clinical factors are as follows: (l) Vascular dilatation: Extracranial arterial dilatation is most common in migraine and frontal arteritis. In acute and chronic intracranial and extracranial inflammation, pathogens and their toxins can cause vasodilatory headaches; metabolic diseases, toxic diseases, brain trauma, epileptic seizures, hypertensive encephalopathy, and large doses of cerebral vasodilators can all cause vasodilatory headaches. (2) Blood vessels are pulled, compressed, stretched, or displaced: intracranial space-occupying diseases; increased intracranial pressure caused by acute meningitis and encephalitis, toxic encephalopathy, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, venous sinus thrombosis, compression and blockage of brain tumors or cysticercosis resulting in cerebrospinal fluid circulation disorders; and headaches caused by increased cerebrospinal fluid outflow after lumbar puncture or spinal anesthesia, which leads to decreased intracranial pressure and expansion of intracranial venous sinuses and veins. (3) Headache caused by irritation of the meninges: acute or chronic inflammatory exudates in the brain (such as peritonitis, etc.), or blood from hemorrhagic diseases (such as subarachnoid hemorrhage, etc.) irritate the meninges, or cerebral edema causes traction on the meninges and blood vessels, resulting in headache. (4) Nerve stimulation: Inflammation, compression, and displacement of cranial nerves (such as the trigeminal nerve) and cervical nerves can all cause corresponding neuralgia. (5) Headaches caused by spasmodic contraction of the head and neck muscles: Neck diseases such as tension in the head and neck muscles, inflammation, local lumps, chronic abscesses, etc., reflexively cause spasms and persistent contraction of the neck muscles, leading to headaches. For example, headache caused by cervical spondylosis is also called muscle contraction headache. (6) Radiating or referred headaches from organs near the head: Lesions commonly seen in the eyes, ears, nose, sinuses, teeth, etc. can spread or reflect to the head and cause headaches. (7) Other causes: Common types of headaches include psychogenic headaches, which are mainly caused by mental or emotional factors, such as common neurotic headaches, hysteria or depression, etc. There are also some other types of headaches, such as "swimming goggles headaches", benign cough headaches, cold stimulation headaches, and "sexual intercourse headaches" related to sexual activity. |
