Can tuberculosis be treated with surgery?

Tuberculosis is a common infectious disease in clinical practice. It is mainly caused by fungal infection and is mainly transmitted through the respiratory tract. It is a chronic infectious disease and often invades our lungs, often causing persistent coughing or asthma. Tuberculosis can usually be treated surgically. In addition to surgery, tuberculosis is divided into several types, which we need to understand clearly.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is clinically divided into five types:

① Primary pulmonary tuberculosis (type Ⅰ)

②Hematogenously disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis (Type II)

③ Secondary pulmonary tuberculosis (type III)

④Tuberculous pleurisy (type IV)

⑤ Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (Type V)

Among the above five types of pulmonary tuberculosis, the most common one is secondary pulmonary tuberculosis. The disease is mainly diagnosed through imaging, so imaging examination is the gold indicator for diagnosing the disease. After the diagnosis is clear, treatment is needed as soon as possible. Specific treatment methods include:

1. Giving chemotherapy:

(ii) Surgical treatment:

Each disease has its own specific surgical indications for surgical treatment. The indications for surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis are: ① After 9 months to 1 year of regular anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy, sputum smear examination still shows bacteria-positive tuberculosis caseous lesions, and is often accompanied by thick-walled cavities.

② Pulmonary tuberculosis is unilateral lung destruction and stenosis of the bronchial lumen caused by bronchial tuberculosis, accompanied by distal atelectasis or pulmonary suppuration.

③ Chronic tuberculous empyema and bronchopleural fistula have poor effects after regular chemical anti-tuberculosis treatment, and the imaging lesions have not shrunk or even expanded.

④ Local lymph node tuberculosis, after treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs, the effect is poor and the lesions have not shrunk. Surgical excision is required, and attention should be paid to local dressing changes.

(III) Symptomatic treatment:

① Patients with fever:

Remember to drink plenty of water and take physical cooling measures. If your body temperature is still above 38 degrees, take oral antipyretics.

②Pay attention to rest:

Tuberculosis patients often have poor immunity, so they should pay attention to regular rest.

③ Strengthen nutrition:

Tuberculosis is a wasting disease, so pay attention to improving nutrition.
