The body temperature is low in the morning and high in the evening

Body temperature is an indicator of great significance for the human body. Whether it is too low or too high, it will have a certain impact on human health. Especially high temperature will bring great pain to people. Many people have also found that their body temperature is low in the morning and high in the evening. This is a relatively normal phenomenon. As long as the error does not exceed 1 degree, it is a normal fluctuation in body temperature!

1. Definition of body temperature

Body temperature refers to the temperature inside the body. The normal axillary temperature of a person is 36 to 37 degrees, the oral temperature is 0.2 to 0.4 degrees higher than the axillary temperature, and the rectal temperature is 0.3 to 0.5 degrees higher than the oral temperature.

2. Detailed introduction of body temperature

The body temperature is relatively constant. A normal person's body temperature fluctuates slightly within 24 hours, generally with a difference of no more than 1 degree. Under physiological conditions, body temperature is slightly lower in the morning and slightly higher in the afternoon. The body temperature is slightly higher after exercise, eating, before menstruation or during pregnancy for women, while the body temperature is lower in the elderly. A body temperature higher than normal is called fever. 37.5-38 degrees is low fever, 38-39 degrees is moderate fever, 39-40 degrees is high fever, and above 40 degrees is very high fever. A relatively constant body temperature is one of the important conditions for maintaining normal life activities. If the body temperature is higher than 41 degrees or lower than 25 degrees, it will seriously affect the functional activities of various systems (especially the nervous system) and even endanger life.

The normal average body temperature is 37 degrees, which comes from the average armpit temperature of 2,500 adults measured by Udrich in 1868. The normal body temperature variation range between individuals can reach 2.7 degrees, and the body temperature of each person can differ by 0.6 degrees at different times of the day. The normal body temperature of a normal person is lowest at 6 am and highest at 4 pm. A body temperature below 38 degrees is generally considered a low fever, while a temperature above 38 degrees is considered a high fever.

3. Normal fluctuations in body temperature

During the day and night, human body temperature fluctuates periodically. The body temperature is lowest between 2 and 6 in the morning and highest between 1 and 6 in the afternoon. The amplitude of fluctuation generally does not exceed 1°C. This day-night periodic fluctuation in body temperature is called the circadian rhythm or diurnal cycle.

A woman's basal body temperature changes with her menstrual cycle. The body temperature rises after ovulation and this rise in body temperature continues until the next menstruation begins. This phenomenon is likely related to the secretion of sex hormones. Experiments have shown that this variability is consistent with changes in progesterone and its metabolites in the blood.

Body temperature is also related to age. Generally speaking, children have higher body temperatures, while newborns and the elderly have lower body temperatures. Newborns, especially premature babies, have an incompletely developed temperature regulation mechanism and poor ability to regulate body temperature, so their body temperature is easily affected by the ambient temperature and changes. Therefore, care for newborns should be strengthened.

When muscles are active, metabolism is enhanced, and heat production therefore increases, resulting in an increase in body temperature. Therefore, in clinical practice, the patient should be allowed to rest for a period of time before measuring his temperature. When measuring a child's temperature, prevent him from crying.

In addition, emotional excitement, mental tension, eating and other situations will have an impact on body temperature; changes in ambient temperature also have an impact on body temperature; these situations should be taken into consideration when measuring body temperature.
