Symptoms of pelvic displacement

Symptoms of pelvic displacement

The pelvis is located near the hip joint of the human body. Generally speaking, the pelvises on both sides of a normal person are symmetrical, so as to ensure that people have a correct posture when walking. The pelvis is also very susceptible to disease, especially dislocation. If the pelvis is misaligned, it generally needs to be corrected, and severe cases may require surgery to improve it. So, what are the symptoms of pelvic displacement?

What are the symptoms of pelvic misalignment?

1. If the pelvis is tilted forward and backward (the pelvic tips on both sides are not at the same height), its physical characteristics are: one buttocks is larger than the other. Walk with your body sideways. The walking, standing, sitting and lying postures are not normal. Taking the symptom that the left side of the pelvic tip is higher than the right side, as an example, the abnormal body postures are listed as follows: When standing: If you touch both buttocks with your hands, you can feel that the right side is bigger and the left side is smaller.

2. When lying in bed: the center of gravity of the body is on the right half of the body, that is, the right half of the body can be close to the bed, while the left half of the body cannot be completely on the bed, and is suspended below the waist, and the hand can be inserted from here. The larger the suspended gap, the greater the lumbar deformity and the more severe the symptoms. When sleeping: People always sleep on the right side, and when getting up, the body always rolls over and gets out of bed from the right side, not the left side.

3. When walking: the person walks sideways, with the left half of the body leaning forward and the right half behind, and the left leg leads the right leg. In severe cases, it can be felt obviously. If the pelvis is tilted up and down (the bone tips on both sides are not parallel), its physical characteristics are: one leg is longer than the other. The heel of the shoe on the shorter foot was badly worn. If you feel that the pelvic tips on both sides are not parallel, for example, the left pelvic tip is higher and the right pelvic tip is lower, it means that the pelvis is tilted up and down.

4. Its physical manifestation is: when lying on your back: put your heels close together, you will feel that the two heels are not aligned, but staggered one in front and the other behind, with the right leg longer and the left leg shorter.

complication

Complications after treatment of hip dislocation, especially congenital hip dislocation, are mostly caused by rough manipulation, insufficient traction, failure to understand surgical indications, failure to clarify factors that hinder reduction, and improper fixation. Most can be avoided. Common complications include:

1. Redislocation is often caused by failure to eliminate factors that hinder reduction. False images appear on X-rays, carelessness when changing the plaster, excessive anteversion or acetabulum dysplasia may cause the hip to dislocate again even after reduction.

2. Complications such as avascular necrosis of the femoral head are mainly caused by rough manipulation or excessive surgical trauma, which damage the blood supply to the femoral head; extreme abduction during fixation; insufficient traction before reduction or failure to release the adductor muscles and iliopsoas muscles, resulting in excessive pressure on the femoral head after reduction.

3. Hip osteoarthritis is a late complication. Generally, after surgery in older children, it is often difficult to avoid similar complications when they reach adulthood.

4. Femoral head epiphysis separation, proximal femoral fracture, sciatic nerve injury, etc., these are all caused by insufficient traction, use of force during reduction or too shallow anesthesia, etc., which can generally be avoided.
