Earache and hearing loss

Earache and hearing loss

I believe everyone is aware of the importance of ears. Ears are one of the main ways for us to contact the world and the basis for communicating with others. Ears are responsible for the human body's hearing function. However, the ear is also a relatively fragile part of the body. As people age, many people are prone to abnormal symptoms in their ears, such as ear pain and hearing loss. What causes this?

1. Causes of ear pain and hearing loss

1. Bilateral or unilateral deafness occurs after a cold, accompanied by stuffy ears, exaggerated self-hearing, and tinnitus, which may be secretory otitis media. Older people with long-lasting unilateral secretory otitis media should be alert to nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

2. Sudden onset of deafness and significant hearing loss, which may be accompanied by tinnitus, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting, indicates sudden deafness.

3. Presbycusis is mostly progressive and worsening hearing loss, mostly bilateral, and may be accompanied by tinnitus.

4. Other cases of progressive hearing loss include otosclerosis, acoustic neuroma, aminoglycoside poisoning, etc.

5. The deafness associated with Meniere's syndrome may be intermittent, with recurrent episodes of vertigo and tinnitus, and the deafness may also tend to gradually worsen.

6. Ear discharge is usually caused by otitis media.

7. Deafness may also occur due to noise stimulation, trauma and cerumen blockage in the ear.

8. Common causes in children include secretory otitis media, cerumen embolism and congenital deafness. In the case of congenital deafness, it is important to pay attention to the mother’s illness and medication history during pregnancy and the delivery process.

2. Ear care

1. Pinch the auricle: With the palms of your hands facing the auricle, rub them clockwise for 20 times, then rub them counterclockwise for 20 times, and do it 3 times in the morning and evening. Do not use too much force when kneading, it is best to wait until both earlobes become congested and red.

2. Pinch the tragus: The tragus is also called the little ear. Use your thumb and index finger to continuously squeeze and relax the tragus. Do this for both tragus at the same time, 20 to 30 times each time. It is best to pinch until both tragus become warm.

3. Relax the auricles: With the palms of your hands facing the auricles, gently press down towards the inner ear, then gently release your hands. Repeat this process for 3 to 5 minutes each time at the beginning, and then increase to 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day in the morning and evening.

4. Twist the ear: Gently insert the index finger into the external ear canal and rotate it back and forth 20 times each. Apply force evenly and do not twist the ear too fast to avoid damaging the skin inside the ear. Do not do it with both ears at the same time, but alternate between left and right.

5. Pull the auricle: After getting up every day, use your right hand to pull the upper part of the left auricle from the head 20 times, and then use your left hand to pull the upper part of the right auricle 20 times.
