How to test tap water quality?

Is the water turbid: Pour ordinary tap water into a cup and observe the turbidity of the water in the cup. If the water in the cup is whitish, it means that the tap water contains a lot of hypochlorous acid during the disinfection process and it is difficult to be completely decomposed. The water quality is poor. It is recommended not to use this water to cook or boil water. On the contrary, if the water in the cup is relatively clear, the water quality is relatively good.

Small particles in water:

Observe the water in the cup to see if there are bubbles attached to the cup, or if there are tiny particles in the water that can be seen with the naked eye and are transparent. However, this shows that the tap water has been poorly processed and filtered, which means that the water quality is relatively poor. It is recommended not to use this water to boil water for drinking. The fewer particles and bubbles in the water, the better the water quality.

Water Color:

Observe the color of the water in the cup to see if it is transparent and colorless. If the water in the cup is other colors, the different colors reflect different chemical pollution in the water, such as: yellow - clay, brown - iron oxide, light blue - sulfide, green - algae, dark brown - corrupted organic matter. It is recommended to filter this type of water before use.

Taste the water:

The most direct way to test the quality of tap water is to taste it. If tap water with poor quality has an odor, feels astringent, or even feels like it has impurities when it enters your mouth, it is because the water contains heavy chemical pollution and heavy metals, and the municipal tap water is not thoroughly filtered and disinfected. Tap water with good quality has a relatively subtle taste and no major abnormalities. The filtered water tastes sweet when you drink it.

Use tools to test water quality:

You can also directly use common tools to test the water quality, such as: a household kettle, boil the tap water, and observe the white sediment in the boiled tap water. The more sediment, the worse the water quality, and vice versa; a TDS test pen, connect the tap water to a cup. Turn on the switch of the TDS test pen and aim it at the water in the cup to display the TDS value of the water. The higher the TDS value, the worse the water quality, and the lower the TDS value, the better the water quality.
