Symptoms of lumbar spondylolisthesis

Symptoms of lumbar spondylolisthesis

Our lumbar spine should be S-shaped, and there should be no pain when doing some movements such as bending over. Once a problem occurs, many movements cannot be done and there will be pain. Lumbar disc herniation is one of the phenomena, but what are the main symptoms of lumbar disc herniation? When a herniation occurs, the spine will be deformed and the person will feel extreme pain, and may not even be able to lift their legs.

1. Symptoms of Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

The human spine is S-shaped, with an inner arc at the waist. It is composed of five bones. If any part of it protrudes out of the body, it is called an external protrusion, otherwise it is called an internal protrusion. Introversion is more likely to compress the nerves of the lower limbs. The spine can be adjusted by using repositioning and correction techniques. People generally prefer to seek treatment nearby, but they still encounter many questions. 2. Diagnosis of Lumbar Disc Herniation

1. The main symptoms are low back pain and radiating pain in the sciatic nerve of one or both lower limbs. The pain is mild during the day and worse at night, walking is difficult, and the extension, flexion, and rotation of the waist are limited. Pain occurs when doing movements such as extending the waist, turning sideways, lying on the back and straightening the abdomen, stretching the legs and flexing the neck while sitting, coughing, and sneezing.

2. There is lumbar scoliosis and changes in the physiological lordosis. The gluteal muscles on the affected side are mostly relaxed and atrophied, while the gluteal muscles on the healthy side are spasmodic.

3. There is deep tenderness about 1.5 inches beside the spinous process of the affected lumbar vertebra, and the pain radiates to the lower limbs.

4. Straight leg raising test: Lie on your back, straighten your legs, and do leg raising movements. If sciatica occurs, and then dorsiflex your foot and the pain worsens, it is a positive sign and may be considered as lumbar disc herniation.

5. Chest and abdomen pillow test: Lie on your stomach, first put a pillow on your chest, and press the painful points beside the lumbar vertebrae and buttocks with your thumbs, which can cause radiating pain in the sciatic nerve; then place the pillow under the lower abdomen to arch the waist and buttocks backwards, and then press the painful points with the same method. The pain in the waist, hips and legs will be significantly reduced or disappear. It can be diagnosed as lumbar disc herniation.

6. The skin sensation, muscle strength and elasticity of the lower limb on the painful side are significantly decreased or changed. Lumbar disc herniation in different parts compresses different nerves; when L4-5 is compressed, there is weakness in extending the big toe. L5-S1, weakness in flexing toes.
