What vaccines do adults need?

Vaccines are the result of the development of modern medicine. Because various vaccines have successfully solved the epidemic trends of some diseases, the health of the entire society has been greatly improved. Generally speaking, vaccines are injected into children, but with the evolution and development of modern diseases, many adults have also become very vulnerable and need to be vaccinated to enhance their immunity. Let’s take a look at what vaccines are better for adults?

Every adult should also be properly protected against vaccine-preventable diseases and receive corresponding immunizations.

l. Diphtheria and tetanus toxoid vaccination

The age of diphtheria incidence in my country has shifted, the immunity level of adults against diphtheria has decreased, and the positive rate of Sickler reaction is high. Therefore, it is necessary to vaccinate teenagers and adults with diphtheria vaccines; those with wounds need to be given tetanus vaccines.

2. Measles vaccine and mumps vaccine

The age of measles onset has shifted, with a considerable proportion of cases occurring in adolescents and adults. The reason is that some places only focus on basic immunization and ignore booster immunization.

3. Hepatitis B vaccine and hepatitis A vaccine

my country is a high-incidence area of hepatitis A and B, and the infection rate of hepatitis B virus in the population is high. There are approximately 120 million (10%) HBSAg-positive people in my country. Therefore, adults, especially medical, accounting and sales personnel who often come into contact with blood, secretions, coins, etc., need to be vaccinated against hepatitis B.

4. Vaccination against meningococcal meningitis and Japanese encephalitis

Although the peak age for Japanese encephalitis is children under 15 years old, the incidence rate in adults still accounts for a considerable proportion. Outbreaks of meningococcal disease still occur in areas with concentrated migrant populations. Therefore, people living in such areas, around large construction sites, and in open cities should be vaccinated with meningococcal vaccine.

5. Rubella vaccine and rabies vaccination

Rubella is a common viral infectious disease. When adults suffer from rubella, the symptoms are milder and sometimes there are no symptoms. However, if pregnant women are infected with the rubella virus, regardless of the severity of the symptoms, it may cause miscarriage or fetal malformation.

6. Other vaccinations: Workers engaged in sanitation and sewage treatment should be vaccinated with diphtheria and tetanus combined vaccine, and may also be vaccinated with typhoid vaccine, cholera vaccine, polio vaccine, etc. as appropriate; personnel engaged in medical microbiology experiments, who are directly exposed to inspection work such as plague bacteria and anthrax bacteria, should also be vaccinated accordingly.
