Neutrophil esterase positive

Neutrophil esterase positive

In the medical field, it is generally believed that the human body is an individual composed of countless cells. Each type of cell has its own function, is in charge of the part it is responsible for, and together they maintain the health of the human body. White blood cells are our body’s good health guardians and can resist inflammation to a certain extent. Therefore, when you find that your neutrophil esterase is positive, you should consider whether there is inflammatory invasion.

What is Leukocyte Esterase

Leukocyte esterase (LE) is a specific enzyme contained in human leukocytes. When the human body is inflamed, the chemotaxis of multinuclear leukocytes gathers in the inflammatory lesions and releases a large amount of leukocyte esterase. Therefore, when vaginitis exists, the activity of leukocyte esterase in the cervical and vaginal mucosa will also increase. -

What does leukocyte esterase positive mean?

Compared with vaginal cleanliness, the positive rate of vaginitis in leukocyte esterase test is higher than that in vaginal cleanliness test. Therefore, leukocyte esterase test is an effective indicator for auxiliary diagnosis of vaginitis and cervicitis. However, leukocyte esterase only exists in neutrophils, so a positive leukocyte esterase only indicates the presence of inflammation, but it cannot be used to determine what pathogen infection it is, so it still needs to be analyzed in conjunction with other test results.

feature

However, this enzyme only exists in neutrophils, but not in other cells. Therefore, other types of white blood cells cannot be detected, only neutrophils, which are commonly known as inflammatory cells. A positive result indicates the presence of white blood cells, namely neutrophils, in the sample being tested, indicating the presence of inflammation, but it cannot indicate what pathogen has caused the infection.

Judgment criteria

Negative neuraminidase activity can rule out bacterial vaginosis.

Cleanliness level 2 indicates vaginal inflammation.

H2O2 is negative, H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is a metabolite of Lactobacillus! Lactobacillus is a eubiotic, and its content should be as high as possible!

How to check leukocyte esterase

The gynecologist uses a sterile cotton swab to collect secretions from the posterior fornix of the vagina, places it in a test tube filled with normal saline and sends it for examination immediately under low-power and high-power microscopes.
