How many days does it take to eliminate the inflammation of appendicitis abscess

Appendicitis is relatively common in clinical practice. Depending on the severity of the appendicitis, the treatment measures are also different. Some serious appendicitis may develop into appendicitis abscess if not treated in time. Patients with appendicitis abscess should also pay attention and take timely measures, such as anti-inflammatory treatment. So how many days will it take to eliminate the inflammation of appendicitis abscess? Learn more.

1. For conservative treatment of appendix abscess, antibiotics are needed to control the infection, and it takes at least three months for the inflammation in the appendix area to fully recover. Therefore, before that, there will still be abdominal pain and discomfort caused by chronic inflammation, intestinal bloating, etc. If the anti-inflammatory drugs are not effective, surgical treatment should be considered. If the abscess is more obvious, the effect of anti-inflammatory drugs alone is generally not obvious. If the appendix cannot be removed, drainage can be considered.

2. Purulent appendicitis is an infectious disease, and antibiotic treatment is therapeutic, focusing on curing the disease. If surgery was performed, it is usually necessary to take injections for nearly a week, and if the infection at the surgical site lasts longer. If no surgery was performed, injections are usually required until the fever is gone and the white blood cell count in the blood routine is normal for two to three days. If there is no perforation, it can be cured. However, if no surgery was performed, many people will develop chronic appendicitis and will still need surgery in the future. Therefore, early surgical treatment is generally recommended for appendicitis.

3. Appendiceal abscess generally refers to an inflammatory mass formed when the pus produced by a purulent or perforated appendix is confined around the appendix, wrapping and adhering to the appendix. Immediate surgery is generally not recommended. You need to wait until the abscess is absorbed before considering surgery. If an abscess is formed, surgical drainage of the abscess cavity should be considered only if symptoms of poisoning are obvious, such as persistent high fever. Appendectomy should not be performed at that time. Forced resection can easily lead to intestinal fistula.
