Cystitis is a relatively common disease in urology and we need to face it correctly. Cystitis is generally caused by bacteria, and we need to carry out anti-inflammatory treatment against the bacteria. In addition, there are many symptoms of cystitis that need our attention. In the early stages of the disease, we can judge by the symptoms, which will allow us to achieve initial psychological preparation and strengthen our determination to fight the disease. So, can cystitis cause lower back pain? 1. Clinical manifestations Acute cystitis The disease often starts suddenly, with burning pain in the urethra during urination, frequent urination, often accompanied by urgency, which can be similar to urinary incontinence in severe cases. The frequency and urgency of urination are often particularly obvious, reaching 5 to 6 times per hour or more, with a small amount of urine each time, even only a few drops. There may be lower abdominal pain at the end of urination. The urine is turbid and sometimes hematuria is present, often evident in the terminal stage. There is mild tenderness over the suprapubic bladder area. Some patients may experience mild low back pain. When the inflammatory lesions are limited to the bladder mucosa, there is often no fever or leukocytosis in the blood, the systemic symptoms are mild, and some patients feel fatigued. Acute cystitis that occurs in women after their wedding is called honeymoon cystitis. The course of acute cystitis is relatively short. If treated promptly, the symptoms will disappear in about 1 week. Chronic cystitis Symptoms of frequent urination, urgency, and pain during urination are long-term and recurrent, but not as severe as in the acute phase. There are small or moderate amounts of pus cells and red blood cells in the urine. If cystitis is treated promptly, the symptoms will disappear quickly. At this time, patients should not take it lightly, but should persist in treatment and stop only after the doctor confirms through examination that the cystitis has been cured. Do not let cystitis become chronic. 2. Diagnosis Acute cystitis The symptoms are mostly typical and diagnosis is generally not difficult. Based on the medical history of frequent urination, urgency and pain when urinating, routine urine examination may reveal red blood cells and pus cells, and a urine bacterial culture with a bacterial count of more than 100,000 per milliliter of urine can confirm the diagnosis. Chronic cystitis In addition to general systemic examination, the most important thing for diagnosis is to find out the type of pathogen and the results of drug sensitivity test, and to find the cause of persistent or recurrent infection. Chronic nonspecific cystitis must be differentiated from other types of cystitis, such as tuberculous cystitis, interstitial cystitis, chemical cystitis, etc. |
