Blood pressure requirements for blood donation

Blood pressure requirements for blood donation

Blood pressure is of great significance to human health. As long as blood pressure is not within the normal range, whether it is high blood pressure or low blood pressure, it is a relatively high-risk disease. Nowadays, many people choose to donate blood, and some patients with hypertension believe that donating blood can alleviate their hypertension symptoms. In fact, there are certain blood pressure requirements for blood donation, and patients with hypertension are not suitable for blood donation.

1. Blood donation requirements for blood pressure

At present, my country's current "Health Examination Requirements for Blood Donors" stipulates that people with high blood pressure cannot donate blood.

The formation mechanism of hypertension is relatively complex. For some people, hypertension is caused by hardening of small blood vessels. Coronary artery spasm may occur when donating blood, leading to temporary myocardial ischemia. People with hypertension often have lipid metabolism disorders, such as high blood lipids and high blood viscosity. After donating blood, blood flow may become slow and thrombotic diseases may easily occur.

In addition, high blood pressure does not mean there is too much blood, and blood donation does not have a blood pressure-lowering effect. Moreover, if a person who relies on medication to maintain blood pressure donates blood, the blood pressure-lowering drug components in his blood may have adverse effects on the recipient.

2. Precautions before donating blood

1. Do not take any medicine before donating blood. For example, taking aspirin within three days will reduce certain functions of platelets, so do not take the medicine three days before donating blood.

2. On the day of blood donation, you should eat as usual, but avoid eating high-fat or high-protein foods such as fatty meat, fish, and fried dough sticks;

3. Do not drink alcohol before donating blood, especially strong alcohol.

4. Get enough sleep and avoid strenuous exercise. Get enough rest and sleep the day before donating blood.

5. Women should not participate in voluntary blood donation three days before or after menstruation or during pregnancy.

3. Precautions after blood donation

1. Say NO to alcohol. Some people become abnormally excited after donating blood, and they take it for granted that they are in good health. At this time, they often invite a few friends to have a few drinks together. Little do people know that drinking alcohol is a big taboo after donating blood. Drinking alcohol after donating blood can seriously harm our body. Try to drink more boiled water to promote blood circulation in the body.

2. Pay attention to protecting the needle hole to avoid infection. After donating blood, press the wound with sterilized cotton for 3-5 minutes. Of course, it can be longer. You can put it down after you think the bleeding has stopped. If there is anything abnormal, inform the medical staff on site in time. Then after you go back, do not let the wound come into contact with water in a short period of time.
