Sore throat after tooth extraction

Sore throat after tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is a common method to solve dental problems, especially when tooth inflammation occurs, tooth extraction can act as the root cause of the disease. Therefore, if it is necessary to extract the tooth, it must be extracted in time. However, tooth extraction can also have some side effects on the body, causing people to suffer from pain and other torture. Let’s take a look at what to do if you have a sore throat after tooth extraction? I hope everyone can understand it.

How to treat sore throat after tooth extraction

1. After tooth extraction, the doctor needs to clean the wound, insert hemostatic cotton, and suture it to prevent bleeding and accelerate wound healing.

2. Bite the gauze tightly on the wound for 40-60 minutes and talk as little as possible to prevent further bleeding to achieve the hemostasis function.

3. If there is saliva in your mouth, you need to swallow it. Do not rinse your mouth forcefully to prevent the wound from tearing.

4. After the bleeding stops, you can use ice compresses or ice water within 24 hours to prevent the wound from swelling.

5. You must use mouthwash after meals and before going to bed. Hold it gently for 30 seconds and then spit it out slowly to prevent bacterial infection.

6. Take medicines according to the doctor's prescription and do not reduce the dosage on your own, otherwise the consequences will be unimaginable.

7. The stitches will be removed after one week and the dentist will give you new advice.

8. Drink more fruit juice and supplement vitamin C and B complex to promote wound healing.

9. Remember to leave the phone number of the hospital or clinic and the name of the doctor, and contact the doctor immediately if there is any emergency.

10. Decline social engagements and avoid excessive drinking. Adequate rest and sleep are necessary.

After tooth extraction, you should pay attention to oral care, ensure the cleanliness of the wound and avoid touching the wound too much, otherwise it will bleed easily and the wound will heal more slowly. Although it is difficult to eat, you can choose some liquid food and supplement more vitamins. For example, if it is inconvenient to eat fruit, drink juice.

What should you pay attention to after tooth extraction?

First of all, gauze bite is very important after tooth extraction. In clinical practice, we often encounter patients asking: How long does it take to bite gauze before spitting it out?

We say that after a tooth is extracted, the extraction wound is filled with fresh blood, and a blood clot is formed in about 15 minutes to seal the wound. Therefore, the correct gauze bite time is 30 minutes. It should not be too early or too late. If it is done too early, the blood clot will not form and the bleeding will not stop; if it is done too late, the blood clot will solidify with the gauze and be taken out together with the gauze, causing bleeding again. At the same time, the emphasis is on "taking out" rather than "spitting out" the gauze. The latter often destroys the blood clot due to excessive force.

Secondly, do not eat anything within 2 hours after tooth extraction, including any soft or hard food or liquid juice or tea. It must be noted that soft food should be eaten after 2 hours; the food should not be overheated, and chewing with the side where the tooth was extracted should be avoided. Otherwise, if you do not pay attention to the above points before the blood clot is completely organized, it may cause the blood clot to be destroyed and cause bleeding.
