Will hepatitis B turn into liver cancer?

Hepatitis B is a global disease caused by the hepatitis B virus. The incidence rate is high in developing countries. Most hepatitis B patients are asymptomatic, and one-third of them show clinical manifestations of liver damage. Hepatitis B is characterized by a slow onset, with subclinical and chronic forms being more common. The disease is mainly transmitted through blood, mother-to-child and sexual contact. The use of hepatitis B vaccine is a fundamental measure to prevent and control hepatitis B. Expert clinical studies have found that there is a certain relationship between hepatitis B and liver cancer. For hepatitis B patients, how can they prevent their condition from turning into liver cancer?

Many clinicians have such diagnosis and treatment experience: some hepatitis patients gradually develop from chronic hepatitis to cirrhosis, and then cirrhosis turns into cancer, forming a "hepatitis-cirrhosis-liver cancer" trilogy. Of course, the hepatitis here refers to hepatitis B or C, and hepatitis A and hepatitis E rarely have a tendency to cirrhosis, so they are generally unrelated to this "trilogy". In my country, due to the prevalence of hepatitis B, the relationship between hepatitis B and liver cancer is even more important.

At present, in the medical community, the distribution of hepatitis B can be roughly divided into six layers; the bottom layer is composed of chronic hepatitis B virus carriers, with the largest number of people. Most of them are caused by family infection or mother-to-child transmission. Liver function tests are normal, and the hepatitis B virus test indicators can be "big three positives" or "small three positives"; the second layer is the chronic persistent hepatitis stage, with mild abnormal liver function tests and slight physical discomfort; the third layer is chronic active hepatitis, this type of patients have severe fatigue, loss of appetite, yellow skin and eyes, etc., and obvious abnormal liver function tests; the fourth layer is chronic severe hepatitis. In the first stage of inflammation, the condition of these patients is very serious, and they often show symptoms such as malaise, severe fatigue, confusion, severe jaundice, etc., and large or sub-large necrosis of liver tissue occurs; the fifth level is the cirrhosis stage. The cirrhosis developed from hepatitis B is called hepatitis cirrhosis, which can be divided into static cirrhosis and active cirrhosis. Active cirrhosis has abnormal liver function response. Some patients lose their lives due to liver failure and serious complications, and some patients may eventually develop liver cancer; the sixth level is the liver cancer stage. The liver is eroded by malignant tumors, and the patients become emaciated and tired, and their condition is difficult to recover.

In summary, if the hepatitis B disease is not treated in time, it will become more serious over time and eventually turn into liver cancer, but not all people will develop liver cancer, because some people may end their lives due to damage to other organs caused by cirrhosis. Here, this editor reminds the majority of patients to standardize the early treatment of hepatitis B. At present, the Biotherapy Center of Shandong Armed Police Hospital uses DC+CIK cell biotechnology to inject a large number of specific immune cells into the body of hepatitis B patients, which can play a very effective role in clearing the virus and blocking the virus replication. In addition, we must maintain a good attitude, take active prevention, and combine work and rest. I hope everyone can have a healthy body and a happy life!
