What causes skin cancer?

What causes skin cancer?

In recent years, skin cancer has gradually risen again, and skin cancer screening has been elevated to a position that needs to be taken seriously. Humans are afraid of death, but when it is really irreversible, they are powerless. There are countless people who have died from cancer, and skin cancer is one of the killers. People who are usually very careful and cautious will find symptoms in the early stage, but some people do not have any symptoms in the early stage, so it is best to check regularly. Clinically, it is found that most skin cancer patients have reached the middle and late stages when they show obvious symptoms. Here, we remind the majority of friends who are related to skin cancer to pay attention.

There are three main types of skin cancer, and all three can be caused at least in part by overexposure to the sun's rays. Ultraviolet rays from the sun can damage the genetic makeup of skin cells, leading to precancerous changes and the growth of cancerous cells. Obviously, the top layer of the skin is the first to be affected. The three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma (or erosive ulcer), squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma, all occur in the top layer of the skin, called the epidermis.

The most common of the three types of skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma, which, if not treated early, can cause local tissue erosion but will not spread to other parts of the body. Squamous cell carcinoma, if not treated properly, can spread. Fortunately, both types of skin cancer grow slowly and are almost all curable. Squamous cell carcinoma sometimes develops on the vulva of postmenopausal women, which can be more difficult to treat.

Malignant melanoma is the least common of the three. It usually develops from existing moles on the human body and is a cancer of melanocytes. Experts point out that this is the most serious type of skin cancer and spreads rapidly after onset. If it can be detected and treated early, the cure rate is about 75%.

Who is most likely to develop skin cancer? How can you reduce your chances?

The lighter your skin and eyes are, the more likely you are to get sunburned and the more likely you are to get skin cancer. Long-term sun exposure, such as outdoor jobs like farming, certainly increases your risk of skin cancer; short-term sun exposure, such as sunbathing on the beach, can also increase your risk of skin cancer.

Even moderate seasonal sunbathing, year after year, can increase the risk of skin cancer. The damage to skin cells caused by sun exposure is cumulative over a long period of time, so middle-aged and elderly people are more likely to develop skin cancer.

The simplest way to avoid skin cancer is to reduce exposure to cancer-causing ultraviolet rays. There are three basic ways to reduce the damage of ultraviolet rays to the skin. You should consider using one or more of these: (a) reduce the time spent in the sun; (b) use clothing and hats to protect your skin when you go out; (c) if you must stay in the sun and cannot use clothing to protect your skin, or if you do not want to cover your skin with clothing because you want to get a tan, you should apply sunscreen. Sunscreens come in creams, oils, and other formulations. They contain certain chemical ingredients that can prevent the most harmful rays of sunlight from damaging the skin.

The above is an introduction to "What causes skin cancer?" When the above symptoms appear, patients should go to a regular hospital for treatment. Early detection and early treatment can effectively cure skin cancer. People who are related to the pathogenic factors of skin cancer are advised to take preventive measures for skin cancer.
