There is phlegm in my throat that I can't cough out

When the seasons change, many people are prone to catching colds and getting sick, especially when they always feel that there is phlegm in their throats that they can't cough out, which is very uncomfortable. This situation is quite common, especially in autumn when the weather is dry and it is easier to cough. When you have phlegm that you can't cough up, you can choose some expectorant drugs, but it is best to regulate your body through your usual diet. It is recommended that these patients gargle with light salt water every morning and evening to keep their throats moist.

If there is phlegm in your throat and you can't cough it out, it is most likely caused by chronic pharyngitis. Chronic pharyngitis is characterized by diffuse congestion of the pharyngeal mucosa, hypertrophy of the mucous glands, and hypersecretion, so there will be a foreign body sensation, that is, phlegm. When the symptoms are not serious, it will feel like you can't cough it out or swallow it, so when brushing your teeth, the stimulation of external factors will cause dry retching. We can use the following methods to alleviate and treat this condition

Frequently gargle with compound borax solution, furazolidone solution, or 2% boric acid solution. When gargling, tilt your head back slightly, open your mouth and make an "ahhh" sound so that the gargle can clean the back wall of the pharynx.

You can choose Chinese medicine to treat phlegm and cough, clear the lungs and relieve throat, or you can choose antibiotics for infection that has already occurred, and then assist with expectorant drugs such as standard myrtle oil. Both effects are quite good.

Insist on gargling with light salt water in the morning and evening. When gargling, tilt your head back, open your mouth and make an "ah" sound. After gargling, you may want to drink a glass of light salt water. It is mainly to sterilize, clean and moisten the pharynx, improve the pharyngeal environment and prevent bacterial infection. If you persist for half a year or a year, the clinical symptoms of chronic pharyngitis can disappear

If the pharyngeal mucosa is congested and thickened, the submucosal connective tissue is hyperplastic, the mucous glands are enlarged and secrete more, you can try laser treatment. If the symptoms are severe, laser treatment should be performed in multiple sessions. You can also use silver nitrate, cryotherapy or ion therapy

Actively treat related diseases that may cause chronic pharyngitis: such as chronic inflammation of the nasal cavity, sinuses, and nasopharynx, as well as systemic diseases such as anemia, indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux, heart disease, chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, etc.

In addition to the symptoms of phlegm in the throat, dry, itchy, painful throat and hoarseness are all symptoms of chronic pharyngitis. If you have chronic pharyngitis, you should avoid using your voice for a long time and talking loudly, which will put pressure and irritation on the throat. You should also avoid spicy, cold, and greasy foods, and avoid smoking and drinking.
