What is moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon

A 55-year-old male patient was recently diagnosed with mid-stage moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon. He has abdominal pain symptoms, but his diet and physical condition are fine. Can he still receive treatment?

Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon is a type of colon cancer. The patient is in the middle stage of cancer and resection is recommended. After the operation, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine can be used for treatment.

What is moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon?

Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the colon is a type of colon cancer. Adenocarcinoma refers to a cancer with a glandular duct arrangement structure. It is a malignant tumor that occurs in the salivary gland epithelium. Adenocarcinoma accounts for 9% of salivary gland epithelial tumors and is a highly malignant type of salivary gland malignant tumor. Adenocarcinoma is divided into three grades according to the degree of differentiation:

1. Well-differentiated adenocarcinoma

The cancerous tissue is composed of glandular ducts of different sizes. The cancer cells are well differentiated, columnar or high columnar, and arranged neatly. The complete cure rate is >95%.

2. Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma

Cancer cells are poorly differentiated, with varying sizes and pseudostratification. The nuclei are large and irregularly arranged, often reaching the top of the cytoplasm. After treatment, the patient's six-year survival rate is generally >80%.

3. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma

Only a small amount of irregular glandular duct-like structures are seen in the cancerous tissue. The cancer cells are poorly differentiated, polymorphic, and of different sizes. The nucleus is large, the cytoplasm is small, and nuclear division is easy to find. After treatment, the patient's six-year survival rate is >60%.
