Different types of clinical manifestations of Hodgkin's lymphoma

Hodgkin's lymphoma can be divided into five types according to its histological manifestations: classical type, nodular lymphocyte-predominant type, nodular sclerosis type, lymphocyte-depleted type and mixed cellular type. Each type has different clinical manifestations.

1. Classic type

Classical Hodgkin lymphoma often presents as early localized lesions, with rare large lesions, mediastinal lesions and B symptoms. It has a good prognosis, but a lower survival rate than primary Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) and generally occurs in males.

2. Nodular lymphocyte-predominant type

Nodular lymphocyte-predominant type accounts for 4% to 5% of Hodgkin lymphoma, mostly occurring in young and middle-aged people, more common in men, with a male to female ratio of 3: 1. The lesions usually involve peripheral lymph nodes, and are mostly early localized lesions at the time of initial diagnosis, with a slow natural course and a good prognosis.

3. Tuberous sclerosis

Nodular sclerosis lymphoma is more common in young adults and adolescents, with a slightly higher incidence in women. It often manifests as lymph node lesions in the mediastinum and other parts of the diaphragm, and has a better prognosis.

4. Lymphocyte depletion

Hodgkin's lymphoma in the elderly and HIV-infected patients involves the abdominal lymph nodes, spleen, liver and bone marrow, is a lymphocyte-depleting type, and is prone to hematogenous dissemination. It is often accompanied by systemic symptoms, progresses rapidly, and has a poor prognosis.

5. Mixed cell type

The mixed cellular type mainly manifests as lesions in the abdominal lymph nodes and spleen. Most patients are in the late stage (stage III or IV) when they seek medical treatment, and the prognosis is poor.
