Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Rectal Cancer

Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Rectal Cancer

Uncle Zhang is 42 years old. A year ago, he had more frequent bowel movements, with pus, blood or mucus. He was diagnosed with rectal cancer and underwent intestinal resection. After two courses of chemotherapy, he was basically recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

After recovering from his illness, Uncle Zhang thought his cancer was cured, so he went out to work. However, a few days ago, he suddenly had chest pain and liver pain while working, and then fainted. His colleagues rushed him to the hospital, and a CT scan was performed, which diagnosed him with liver metastasis, and part of it had metastasized to the bladder. Hearing this news, Uncle Zhang was shocked and felt that he seemed to be hopeless.

The doctor advised Uncle Zhang not to despair, but to have the confidence and determination to overcome the disease, and that he could take Chinese medicine to treat it. Under the doctor's guidance, Uncle Zhang decided to give it another try.

Treatment process

He told the doctor that he had been experiencing hematuria for the past few days, accompanied by mild urinary pain, constant urge to go to the toilet, backache, dizziness, fatigue, and poor sleep and diet. The doctor looked at Uncle Zhang's tongue coating and found that it was red, smooth and without coating; his pulse was stringy and slippery.

The doctor said that from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, this is mainly caused by insufficient kidney yin, heat accumulation in the bladder, and damaged blood vessels.

The treatment needs to tonify the kidney and replenish yin, clear the bladder, cool the blood and harmonize the collaterals.

The doctor prescribed the following medicine based on Uncle Zhang's specific condition:

1. Chinese patent medicine: 6 boxes of Cidan Capsules, Compound Curcuma Eliminating Tumor Capsules, Xianhe Yishou Capsules, 4 times a day, 5 capsules each time.

2. Chinese medicine: Ligustrum lucidum fruit, Smilax glabra, Adzuki bean, Eclipta prostrata, Imperata cylindrica root, Rehmannia glutinosa, Phellodendron chinense, Carapace of turtle, Agrimonia indica. Decoction in water, 15 doses in total, twice a day.

Treatment Outcomes

After taking the medicine for one course of treatment, Uncle Zhang went to the hospital for a follow-up examination. He told the doctor that his urination was smooth, his hematuria was reduced, and his appetite was increased. After Uncle Zhang took the medicine for another three courses of treatment as instructed by the doctor, all his discomfort symptoms disappeared and he was healthy again.
