Suitable population and selection principles for cryosurgery of renal cancer

With the advancement of medical technology, interventional treatment of renal cancer has also made great progress in recent years. The use of argon-helium knife for cryotherapy can reduce damage to normal renal parenchyma, significantly reduce postoperative complications, and shorten hospitalization time. It is an ideal method for treating local multiple renal tumors.

Suitable people for cryotherapy

1. Renal parenchymal mass;

2. Patients who are not suitable for surgery or refuse surgery due to nearby metastasis or other diseases;

3. Patients with huge renal masses who have failed radiotherapy and chemotherapy;

4. Patients with tumors on both sides;

5. The tumor infiltration area is less than 1/3 of the kidney.

Principles for choosing freezing methods

Cryosurgery can be performed under the monitoring of color ultrasound or CT. Single superficial small renal cancer is generally cryosurgery performed under laparoscopy; multiple renal cancers, tumors close to the renal hilum can be cryosurgery during surgery; small renal cancers, single or no more than 3, can be cryosurgery percutaneously when the patient's general condition is poor; patients with locally advanced renal cancer who are generally in good condition can undergo intraoperative cryosurgery, and those who have already metastasized can undergo percutaneous cryosurgery to achieve a palliative effect.

Tips: Percutaneous cryotherapy and intraoperative cryotherapy

Percutaneous targeted cryosurgery for renal tumors is safe and effective, which can reduce damage to normal renal parenchyma, significantly reduce postoperative complications, and shorten hospital stay by 1 to 3 days. Intraoperative cryosurgery is considered to be an ideal method for treating multiple localized renal tumors.
