Brain cancer patients should not forget to exercise their physical functions after surgery

Brain cancer causes significant damage to the patient's central nervous system. During or after treatment, the patient's body functions will be slower. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to physical exercise to help the patient fully recover.

1. Psychological suggestion: Brain cancer patients may have language disorders, hemiplegia, memory loss, etc., lose the ability to live and work independently, and have many concerns about personal life, marriage, work, future, etc. Therefore, family members should care, comfort and encourage them to treat the disease correctly, build confidence in the future, and cooperate with various rehabilitation treatment and nursing work with strong perseverance.

2. Limb function exercise: Hemiplegic patients should perform limb function exercise with the assistance of their family members during bed rest. After recovery, they are encouraged to take the initiative to move, such as standing exercises. They should start to stand with support, such as leaning against a wall or holding a cane, and at the same time, they should be guided to sit and stand exercises and step-climbing exercises to improve lower limb muscle strength. They should gradually transition from standing without support to walking. The affected upper limb should mainly perform active exercises on the joints, strengthen the activities of the metacarpophalangeal joints and thumb finger exercises, and promote the smooth recovery of hand function.

3. Language rehabilitation exercises: Patients should have enough patience to carry out language training, from simple single sounds and double sounds to sentences. Family members should encourage and praise every bit of progress made by the patient, be loving and respect the patient's wishes, talk to the patient more often, and encourage more expression.

4. Exercises for self-care skills: People with limb weakness should practice various pinching and grasping methods under the guidance of their family members, and then learn to use combs and brushes, practice washing their faces, taking baths, eating with their hands, etc., to improve the flexibility of patients' limbs and joints and improve their personal quality of life.
