If hoarseness does not heal for a long time in winter, you should be alert to laryngeal cancer

Winter is the peak season for respiratory diseases. Because the weather is dry and the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is large, you may catch a cold and fever if you are not careful. Some patients may also have hoarseness.

It is very common to have hoarseness in winter. Most patients will treat it as a sore throat caused by a cold or inflammation due to heat. They usually buy some cold or anti-inflammatory medicines and take them. However, if the patient does not see improvement after long-term treatment, attention should be paid, because it is very likely that laryngeal cancer is the culprit.

Few patients know that other diseases can also cause hoarseness, including laryngeal cancer. This is because laryngeal cancer is a tumor that grows on the vocal cords. Although it is small in size, it can also affect the vocal cords, causing hoarseness. Therefore, when patients experience hoarseness and there is no improvement after more than two weeks of treatment, or if there is a significant worsening in the short term, they should go to the hospital in time to check the condition to avoid delaying treatment.

The reason why laryngeal cancer patients show such symptoms in winter has a lot to do with the weather. The laryngeal tumor has actually existed for a long time, but it has not shown any symptoms. Due to the influence of the weather, the patient's throat is stimulated by other factors, and the impact of the tumor on the vocal cords is manifested, and the patient's direct manifestation is hoarseness.

In addition, when laryngeal cancer causes hoarseness in patients, it is usually accompanied by difficulty breathing, a foreign body sensation and pain in the throat, and blood in the sputum.
