What are the diagnostic methods for laryngeal cancer

What are the diagnostic methods for laryngeal cancer

The incidence of laryngeal cancer accounts for about 1% to 5% of all tumors in the body, ranking third in otolaryngology after nasopharyngeal cancer and sinus cancer. The most common age is 50 to 70 years old and males are more likely to be diagnosed than females. So what are the diagnostic methods for laryngeal cancer?

1. Laryngoscopy. Laryngoscopy is a commonly used method. It can be used only when indirect laryngoscopy is unsatisfactory or it is difficult to obtain pathology. Direct laryngoscope and fiberoptic light guide can further understand the situation of tumor invasion in the larynx, and take tissues of suspicious cells for pathological examination in time.

2. Neck examination: Neck examination includes examination of the laryngeal shape, inspection and palpation of the cervical lymph nodes. The palpation of the cervical lymph nodes should be carried out according to the distribution pattern of the cervical lymph nodes, from top to bottom and from front to back, to find out the location and size of the swelling.

3. Imaging examination: 1. X-ray examination: X-ray examination of lateral laryngeal films and anteroposterior laryngeal films can determine the location, size, shape, and changes in the cartilage trachea or anterior soft tissue of the cervical spine. Laryngeal radiography can be performed if necessary. 2. CTMR examination: It helps to determine the growth range of the tumor in the larynx and the extent of external invasion, as well as the metastasis of cervical lymph nodes, which is especially helpful for advanced patients. 3. Ultrasonic tomography: It is used to detect enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, determine the location and relationship with surrounding tissues.
