Who is at high risk of ovarian cancer

Women with one or more of the following characteristics will have a higher risk of developing ovarian cancer. Such patients should go to the hospital for regular check-ups to prevent the disease from getting worse.

1. Family history of ovarian cancer, breast cancer, or colon cancer

2. Women who have not given birth or are infertile, and women who have early menarche (before the age of 12) or menopause after the age of 50.

3. Reproductive tract contact with talc or asbestos (work, IV pollution, condoms, dust containing talc, etc.).

4. Older women.

5. Use of fertility-promoting drugs for more than 3 cycles.

6. The patient has a history of breast cancer, endometrial cancer or colon cancer.

7. The survey found that the incidence rate among women in affluent areas is high, which may be related to the high fat content in the diet, especially the high animal fat content.

8. Oral contraceptives can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages and is often discovered by chance during gynecological examinations. If the following conditions occur, it should be taken seriously: subtle but persistent gastrointestinal discomfort, such as flatulence, nausea, poor appetite or indigestion.

9. Frequent and/or urgent urination

10. Abnormal vaginal bleeding after menopause

11. Weight gain or loss.

12. Abdominal distension and/or pain.

13. Unexplained changes in bowel habits.

14. Pain during sexual intercourse.

If the above symptoms have lasted for more than 4 to 6 weeks, please be sure to have a comprehensive rectal vaginal gynecological examination. If the physical examination reveals ovarian irregularities, further examinations including intravaginal ultrasound and/or tumor markers should be performed.
