Liver cancer patients may experience nose bleeding

Abnormal bleeding is very common in patients with liver cancer. Many patients have symptoms such as vomiting blood, black stools, and nosebleeds. It is difficult to stop nosebleeds in patients with liver cancer, and the bleeding will not stop on its own, so medical staff are needed to diagnose and treat them in a timely manner.

Location of epistaxis in patients with liver cancer

Nosebleeds in patients with liver cancer can occur in any part of the nasal cavity, which is closely related to the distribution of blood vessels. Clinically, nosebleeds in patients with liver cancer are divided into three prone bleeding areas: upper nose, anterior nose and posterior nose. Their blood supply belongs to the external carotid artery system, greater palatine artery and internal carotid artery system respectively.

Causes of nose bleeding in patients with liver cancer

Nosebleeds in patients with liver cancer may indicate worsening liver cancer, indicating that the patient's blood coagulation function has decreased, resulting in the body's inability to coagulate blood. The liver can synthesize a variety of coagulation factors. When liver cancer occurs, a large number of liver cells die, thereby weakening the synthesis of coagulation factors and affecting the coagulation function. Exacerbation of the disease usually directly causes abnormal liver function, and abnormal liver function can lead to a disorder in the synthesis of coagulation factors in the human body, which can not only cause nasal bleeding, but also gum and skin bleeding.

Treatment of epistaxis in patients with liver cancer

Patients with liver cancer who have nose bleeding usually have severe liver damage and need to be taken seriously. They should be given hemostatic drugs immediately, and sometimes they should be combined with three-chamber two-balloon tube compression hemostasis and endoscopic hemostasis. Do not simply use cotton balls to stop bleeding. If the nose bleeding does not stop, you should contact medical staff immediately.
