The relationship between dietary habits and pancreatic cancer

The relationship between dietary habits and pancreatic cancer

Diet is an important risk factor for pancreatic cancer. A high-fat, high-protein diet (especially animal fat) is conducive to the occurrence of pancreatic cancer.

The incidence of pancreatic cancer in Japan has increased significantly in recent years, which may be related to the westernization of the diet. Some people report that the incidence of pancreatic cancer is closely related to high calorie intake, that is, those who consume more sugar and carbohydrates are more likely to get it, while those who consume more fiber-rich foods are less likely to get it. Some people also report that eating more raw vegetable juice and vegetables can prevent the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. Fried foods can increase the risk of disease, while consuming more vitamins A and G can reduce the incidence of most cancers.

Animal experiments have shown that foods high in fat and protein can increase pancreatic cell renewal and the sensitivity of the pancreas to carcinogens. The fat in meat stimulates the secretion of cholecystokinin in the upper part of the small intestine, which increases the transport of pancreatic cells and thus increases the sensitivity to carcinogens. Therefore, people who eat a lot of meat have a higher incidence of pancreatic cancer.

The research results on the relationship between coffee and ethanol and pancreatic cancer are inconsistent and controversial. Early research results showed that coffee and ethanol are risk factors for pancreatic cancer, but there is currently insufficient evidence to show that coffee and ethanol are related to pancreatic cancer. The above diet and lifestyle habits seem to be closely related to the occurrence of pancreatic cancer.
