Nursing methods for sigmoid colon cancer

Nursing methods for sigmoid colon cancer

Colon cancer is divided into three stages like other diseases, namely early, middle and late stages. Today we will mainly introduce the care of late stage colon cancer, especially several aspects that need attention, because colon cancer is incurable during this period.

1. Comfortable recuperation environment

Late-stage patients need a comfortable and suitable environment for recuperation. Therefore, it is best to place the patient in an environment that is conducive to the patient's recuperation, ensure the patient's safety during the recuperation period, keep the room clean and hygienic, and facilitate the patient's bowel movements. The patient must be informed that it is best to do a small amount of activity before going to bed. Provide the patient with adequate nutrition and try to meet the patient's needs. The diet requires easily digestible food.

2. Observe the changes in the patient's condition

For patients who have multiple bowel movements per day, their condition should be carefully observed. When the patient sleeps more, it is necessary to observe the changes in the patient's breathing rhythm and other symptoms. When the patient is resting, try to put the patient in a semi-lateral position, keep the patient's skin clean, change the bed sheets in time, etc. The patient can also be given pain relief.

3. Diet care

The nursing diet for advanced colon cancer is more important. It is recommended to provide patients with some food that they like and talk about topics that make them happy. Divert patients' fears and encourage them to build up confidence. A good attitude is conducive to their recovery. Some fiber fruits or vegetables can be selected for patients, and the principle of small and frequent meals can be adhered to.

One thing to be reminded is that although the best time to treat colon cancer is the earlier the better, there is still a failure rate, but there is no doubt that the earlier the treatment, the higher the cure rate. Generally speaking, if the early colon cancer lesions have not yet begun to metastasize, the cure rate is very high.
