Cervical cancer, also known as cervical cancer, is a common malignant tumor of the cervix. It may be discovered and diagnosed through symptoms such as vaginal bleeding or through abnormal Pap smears. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is believed to be closely related to the occurrence of cervical cancer (and squamous intraepithelial lesions). Treatment of cervical cancer includes surgical resection, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. HPV vaccine is believed to have the function of preventing cervical cancer. What is cervical vaccination? Who is suitable for vaccination? Most cervical cancers are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Cervical cancer vaccines are designed for women and can effectively protect against HPV virus invasion, thereby preventing cervical cancer. The best time to get the cervical cancer shot is between eleven and twelve years old. How is HPV transmitted? HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and sexual behavior. Many women mistakenly believe that promiscuous sex will lead to infection with the virus, but this is not true. In fact, women have an 80% chance of contracting HPV regardless of how many sexual partners they have in their lifetime. Ordinary condoms cannot prevent HPV infection. How much does the cervical vaccination cost? Each vaccination costs about HK$1,500, and a total of three doses costs about HK$4,500. If you have any questions about the vaccination, please consult a professional doctor. Is the vaccine effective for sexually active women? In clinical studies, some of the women tested were already sexually active, but the results showed that the vaccine was still very effective for them. But of course, the cervical cancer vaccine is most effective in women who have never been sexually exposed to HPV types 16 and 18. Is the vaccine safe? Are there any side effects after the injection? Clinical studies have confirmed that cervical cancer vaccines are safe. Side effects may occur after vaccination, including mild fever, headache, or mild redness, swelling and itching of the wound, but they are all short-lived and mild. Do women still need to undergo cervical cancer screening after vaccination? Absolutely! Please remember that the cervical cancer vaccine is not used to replace cervical smears. Since the vaccine can only prevent infection with two high-risk HPV types, HPV16 and 18, women still have the opportunity to be exposed to other high-risk viruses, which means that the risk of cervical cancer still exists. Therefore, women still need to undergo regular cervical smears. If the results of two consecutive tests are normal, you can then have a test every three years to monitor cervical cell mutations and detect cervical cancer early. |
