Complications of pancreatic cancer liver metastasis

Complications of pancreatic cancer liver metastasis

A healthy body is the capital of revolution. Some people ignore their health in order to make money, while others are loyal and have good living habits and a healthy body. Many patients have raised the issue of complications of pancreatic cancer liver metastasis, which is a common problem of pancreatic cancer. Today we will discuss this issue together.

Among the first symptoms of pancreatic cancer, upper abdominal discomfort and dull pain are the most common first symptoms. Abdominal pain is more common in pancreatic body and tail cancer. It is located in the upper abdomen, around the umbilicus or right upper abdomen. It is colic in nature, paroxysmal or persistent, progressively worsening dull pain, mostly radiating to the waist and back, worsening in the supine position and at night, and relieved when sitting, standing, leaning forward or walking. Tumors often cause obstruction of the pancreatic duct or bile duct. Although jaundice has not yet occurred, bile excretion is poor, the pressure in the bile duct is increased, and the bile duct and gallbladder are dilated to varying degrees. Patients may feel abdominal discomfort and dull pain.

In the past, it was always emphasized that the first symptom of pancreatic cancer should be painless jaundice, but in fact, jaundice as the first symptom only occurs in 10% to 30% of patients. Abdominal pain is still a very common symptom in patients with pancreatic head cancer. As for pancreatic body and tail cancer, the incidence of abdominal pain is higher, and it may present as significant upper abdominal pain and back pain due to involvement of the celiac plexus. The appearance of this symptom often indicates that the disease has entered the late stage.

Generally speaking, jaundice occurs within a certain period of time during the development of the disease. The most common one is pancreatic head cancer, which appears earlier. When the tumor is limited to the body and tail, there is usually no jaundice. Jaundice is mostly obstructive and progressively deepens, accompanied by skin itching, urine color like strong tea, and stool color of clay. Most of them are caused by pancreatic head cancer compressing the common bile duct, and a few are caused by pancreatic body and tail cancer metastasizing to the liver or liver/common bile duct lymph nodes.

In addition, among the symptoms of pancreatic cancer, about 20% of people will experience rapid weight loss, which is often accompanied by cachexia in the late stage of pancreatic cancer. The causes of weight loss include consumption by cancer, loss of appetite, anxiety, insomnia, digestion and absorption disorders, etc. Fatigue and loss of appetite are very common, and may be accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and abdominal distension. Some cases may experience steatorrhea and high blood sugar, diabetes, and dislike fatty dishes. They may also experience fatty diarrhea, which is a symptom of diarrhea caused by undigested fat mixed with feces and excreted. Fever may also occur due to secondary biliary infection due to ulceration or infection of the cancer.

The above is the detailed knowledge about complications of pancreatic cancer. I am sure you have gained a lot from it. It also answers many confusions in your mind. In order to make patients get better soon, we still need to do a lot, such as chatting with patients, helping them adjust their mentality, letting them take medicine on time, and develop a healthy living habit. Finally, I wish patients a speedy recovery.
