Rehabilitation exercises for early stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal cancer is a common disease in our lives. There are many patients with nasopharyngeal cancer around us. In fact, there are many ways to treat nasopharyngeal cancer. In the process of treating the disease, patients should also take good care of themselves and not let their neglect cause the disease to worsen. So, what are the early rehabilitation exercises for patients with nasopharyngeal cancer? And what about other health care?

Functional exercise: Regularly perform neck rotation, teeth tapping, cheek puffing, smiling, mouth opening and other exercises. Patients with dry mouth can use pear slices in their mouths to relieve discomfort; patients with radiation pharyngitis can gargle with oral pharyngitis mixture before meals and before bedtime.

Prevention of radiation-induced tooth decay: Before radiotherapy, teeth should be cleaned regularly and tooth decay should be removed. During radiotherapy, mouthwash should be continued after meals and teeth should be brushed with fluoride-containing toothpaste. Patients can first apply toothpaste on their teeth and then brush their teeth after 2 to 3 minutes to increase the contact time between fluoride and teeth.

Protect the skin in the radiation area: The skin area receiving radiation therapy is prohibited from being scratched, scrubbed with soap or other irritating liquids, or exposed to the sun. Patients are advised to wear loose cotton clothes. The lines of the radiation area should be clearly drawn, and ask the doctor to help add them if necessary.

Nasal irrigation: The patient sits down, leans forward slightly, and rinses with warm saline to keep the nasal cavity clean, reduce infection, and increase radiation sensitivity. Do not use too much force when rinsing, and observe the color of the rinsing solution. If there is a headache or bloody rinsing, stop rinsing immediately.

Improve nutrition: The diet should be light, nutritious, and easy to digest. Eat small meals frequently and pay attention to the color, aroma, and cleanliness of the food. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, white radishes, tomatoes, lotus roots, citrus, lemons, hawthorns, etc.

Patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma must face the disease positively and receive treatment as soon as possible. During the treatment process, patients should also establish firm confidence and not lose their determination to cure the disease. Although nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a type of cancer, if everyone can actively treat it, the treatment effect can be guaranteed.
