If you find that your cervical spine is uncomfortable, you may have cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis cannot be treated by surgery or medication. If you have cervical spondylosis, the only way to treat it is to let the cervical spine recover slowly by itself through continuous massage. However, cervical spondylosis also needs to be checked in the hospital. The hospital is divided into many departments. Which department should you go to for cervical spondylosis? Cervical spondylosis is a group of comprehensive symptoms caused by cervical disc herniation, bone hyperplasia, ligament hypertrophy or changes in the physiological curvature of the cervical spine compressing the cervical nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral arteries and sympathetic nerves. Cervical spondylosis can be divided into five types: ◆Radiculopathy: Nerve root compression, stiff neck and back, limited mobility, sore and heavy shoulders, and numb fingers; if the symptoms only occur in the cervical spine, it is also called cervical spondylosis; ◆Vertebral artery type: vertebral artery compression, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, prone to cataplexy; ◆Spinal cord type: spinal cord compression, upper limbs trembling, numbness, difficulty holding objects, severe cases of weak legs, feet like walking on cotton, difficulty walking, and even paralysis; ◆Sympathetic nervous system: pain in the occipital area, heaviness of the head, dizziness, migraine, palpitations, chest tightness, cold limbs; ◆Comprehensive cervical spondylosis: When two or more of the above conditions are met, it is called comprehensive cervical spondylosis. Suggestion 1: Don’t choose oral medications blindly. Western medicine has serious side effects, can damage the liver and kidneys, and can easily cause osteoporosis and other serious consequences; Tip 2: Don’t rely too much on physical therapy. Physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, cupping, etc. can easily cause greater damage and adhesion if practitioners have not received formal training. Suggestion three: Don’t put your hopes on surgery. The risk is high, the pain is great, and the neck and waist are densely populated with nerves, so don't consider it unless it's absolutely necessary. Clinically, patients with neck symptoms are usually referred to orthopedics or spinal surgery, which is actually not a wise move. Orthopedics and spinal surgery are clinical departments that mainly provide surgical treatment. The current international cervical spondylosis treatment guidelines believe that cervical spondylosis should be treated mainly with rehabilitation, and conservative treatment is clearly the preferred method. Surgery is considered only when strict conservative treatment fails. Therefore, patients with cervical spondylosis should first go to the rehabilitation department. If no obvious results are achieved after systematic rehabilitation treatment, they should consider surgical treatment in orthopedics or spinal surgery. |
