Stage III symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Stage III symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

In today's seriously polluted world, it is difficult not to get sick. Nasopharyngeal cancer is a malignant tumor caused by environmental pollution. The harm this disease brings to patients is often much more than we imagine. What are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer?

Symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer:

1. Nasal symptoms: Early nasopharyngeal cancer usually has little bleeding, which is often manifested as blood in the mucus when aspirated in the morning. That is, the sputum aspirated from the nose into the mouth after getting up in the morning contains blood streaks or blood clots. Similarly, nasopharyngeal cancer rarely causes nasal congestion in the early stage. When nasal congestion occurs, the tumor is usually very large and blocks the posterior nostril, causing nasal congestion.

2. Ear symptoms: Sometimes ear symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma appear earlier than nasal symptoms. This is because the common site of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is located in the pharyngeal recess, which can easily affect the function of the Eustachian tube. The main ear symptoms are tinnitus and ear congestion.

Feeling of bloating, hearing loss, etc.

3. Neck symptoms: mainly manifested as swollen lymph nodes deep in the neck. Swollen lymph nodes are sometimes the first symptom of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Sometimes, even when there is no sign of tumor in the primary site of the nasopharynx, the cervical lymph nodes are swollen. Metastasis of cervical lymph nodes does not mean that nasopharyngeal carcinoma is already in the late stage. In clinical practice, we found that patients with early cervical lymph node metastasis often have a better prognosis. This is because the cervical lymph nodes act as a sentinel to prevent further distant metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Of course, nasopharyngeal carcinoma may also cause other symptoms, such as: symptoms of compression of the posterior cranial nerves (headache, trigeminal neuralgia, tongue movement disorder, hoarseness, etc.), eye symptoms, etc., which are generally manifestations of late-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Electronic nasopharyngeal endoscopy can detect very small early nasopharyngeal carcinoma without any symptoms; imaging examinations such as CT can understand the invasion range of nasopharyngeal carcinoma; the final diagnosis requires pathological examination.

Treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Radiotherapy is the first choice for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and the effect of radiotherapy has been clinically confirmed. With the advancement of technology, the effect of radiotherapy is getting better and better, and the side effects are getting fewer and fewer, such as new technologies such as three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy and intensity-modulated conformal radiotherapy. For some advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma with multiple lymph node metastases, synchronous adjuvant chemotherapy can be used to improve the treatment effect.

The above are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer. As long as you understand the above symptoms, it can help you detect nasopharyngeal cancer and sometimes save your life. Here I want to remind you that everyone has the responsibility to protect the environment, starting from the environment around you. If the environment around you is good, the chance of getting nasopharyngeal cancer will be reduced.
