How to check ovarian tumors

Ovarian tumor refers to a tumor that occurs on the ovary. It is one of the common tumors of the female reproductive system. Ovarian malignant tumor also has the highest mortality rate among gynecological malignant tumors. Although great progress has been made in both basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of ovarian malignant tumors in recent years, unfortunately, its 5-year survival rate has not improved significantly.

B-ultrasound examination is one of the important methods for examining ovarian tumors. So, how does B-ultrasound examine ovarian tumors? The following experts will introduce to you the main aspects of B-ultrasound examination of ovarian tumors:

1. Benign ovarian tumors B-ultrasound of benign ovarian tumors shows a clear boundary on one side of the uterus and an enhanced anechoic area on the posterior wall. Sometimes, a linear enhanced echo can be seen, which is the atrial septum reflection of the cystadenoma. B-ultrasound of solid benign ovarian tumors indicates that the echo boundary of the solid tumor on one side or the rear of the uterus may not be clear enough, the echo of the posterior wall is weakened, and the internal distribution is uniform or uneven, with dot-shaped or mass-shaped echoes of varying strengths. Sometimes there are irregular liquid anechoic areas between solid echoes.

2. The B-ultrasound images of malignant ovarian tumors are different from those of benign tumors. The characteristics are that the tumor on one side is solid or cystic, and the internal echo is irregular and uneven. The tumor septum or wall is thick, rough, and irregular, with solid areas protruding from the cystic cavity. When the tumor infiltrates or grows exogenously, its outline is unclear, the edges are irregular, and it is often accompanied by ascites echoes.

3. Pelvic inflammatory masses have unclear boundaries and are closely related to the uterus. Sometimes there is no obvious boundary. The internal echo is more chaotic. It can be cystic, semi-cystic or nodular. If there is adhesion, a strong arc-shaped intestinal echo can be seen.
