Can early uterine cancer be cured?

Endometrial cancer is a group of epithelial malignant diseases of the endometrium in clinical practice. It is one of the common malignant tumors of the female genitalia. So, can endometrial cancer be cured? Is there a possibility of recurrence?

It is generally believed that endometrial cancer can be divided into estrogen-dependent (type I) and estrogen-independent (type II) types according to the pathogenesis and biological behavior characteristics. The vast majority of estrogen-dependent endometrial cancers are endometrioid carcinomas, and a small number are mucinous adenocarcinomas; estrogen-independent endometrial cancers include serous carcinomas, clear cell carcinomas, etc.

Endometrial cancer is curable, and the cure rate of early-stage endometrial cancer is relatively high. Moreover, current medical technology has greatly increased the cure rate of cancer, and the cure rate of endometrial cancer is also 40-50%. The key is to detect it in the early stage in order to effectively treat it. For early-stage patients, it mainly depends on whether appropriate treatment methods are taken in time. Surgical resection and minimally invasive interventional therapy are the main treatment methods in the early stage. The cure rate of early-stage endometrial cancer is as high as more than 80%.

Endometrial cancer may recur after surgery. There are two types of recurrence of endometrial cancer. One is local recurrence, such as the reappearance of cancer in the vagina and pelvis after hysterectomy; the other is systemic recurrence, that is, tumors found in any part of the body after treatment. Vaginal recurrence is the most common site, with an incidence rate of 2 to 30, and the pelvic recurrence rate is about 3.

Since endometrial cancer may recur within three years after treatment, it is necessary to conduct regular follow-up after treatment of uterine cancer. Most cases are reviewed every three to four months; in the next three years, every six months; and once a year thereafter.

Warm reminder: The key to the treatment of endometrial cancer is early detection and early treatment, and to prevent recurrence, you must go to the hospital for regular check-ups so that you can take measures as soon as possible.
