Signs of cervical cancer recurrence

Signs of cervical cancer recurrence

If the patient develops cervical cancer again 6 months after being cured, this is called cervical cancer recurrence. The recurrence rate of cervical cancer is very high, but there are also many patients who have not had a recurrence for more than ten years after being cured of the disease, so patients should pay attention to follow-up visits in the later stage.

What are the signs of cervical cancer recurrence?

(I) Clinical manifestations The main symptoms of recurrent cancer are lower limb pain, abdominal and pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding and foul-smelling leucorrhea. In addition, there are different manifestations depending on the site of recurrence, such as cough, chest pain, hematuria, rectal bleeding, etc. Accompanied by: In addition to the primary site of lesions, most of them can feel lumps in the lower abdomen or pelvic wall, lower limb edema, etc.

(II) Prognosis of patients with recurrent cancer Most patients who relapse after radiotherapy die within 1 year after treatment, accounting for about 1/2 of the patients who die, that is, more than half of the patients who relapse develop symptoms within 1 year after treatment. About 88% of the relapsed cases develop relapse symptoms within 3 years after treatment. The mortality rate gradually decreases without regularity. Generally, deaths within 5 years account for 93% of the total deaths, and deaths from relapse 5 to 10 years after treatment account for 5%.

(III) Recurrence site In cases where the disease is not cured, the recurrence always occurs at the primary site. The location of the recurrence is more difficult to determine. About the recurrence site of cervical cancer after radiotherapy.

(IV) The survival time of patients after cervical cancer recurrence varies with the site of recurrence. For example, those with vaginal stump or local recurrence may survive earlier.

(V) Diagnosis The above symptoms and signs can be used as the basis for the diagnosis of general recurrent cancer. Any pain or edema in one lower limb after treatment of cervical cancer indicates that there is recurrent cancer in the pelvic cavity, which compresses the nerves and obstructs the lymphatic or venous return. Recurrent cases after surgery are easier to diagnose. However, sometimes unabsorbed lymph cysts or pelvic inflammatory masses are easily confused. Try to perform local puncture for cytological smear and send it for pathological examination as soon as possible to make a clear diagnosis. Examination of other parts of the body is also very important.

Eating a lot of meat and fish every day is not necessarily a nutritious diet, especially for patients with cervical cancer. Excessive fat intake will only make the condition worse. Therefore, even after curing the disease, patients with cervical cancer should pay attention to a light diet. Many staple foods have anti-cancer effects, and patients can learn about them.
