What is breast lymphoma

What is breast lymphoma

Breast lymphoma is relatively rare and has a variety of histological types. They can originate in the breast or spread to the breast. Lymphomas that originate in the breast are similar to lymphomas of the same histological type and at the same time that occur in other parts of the body. Clinically, lymphomas that originate in the breast must be differentiated from benign breast infiltration and other malignant lesions of the breast.

Because the breast contains some lymphoid tissue during lactation, it is part of the mucosal immune system. Lymphomas occurring in this area may be related to the MALT type. The age of onset ranges from 9 to 85 years, with the most common age group being 50 to 60 years. Pregnancy is also a risk factor for primary breast lymphoma, probably because most organs stimulated during pregnancy have a tendency to proliferate.

The most common clinical manifestation is a unilateral breast lump, which is more common on the right side, with only one group reporting invasion of the left side. Only a few cases occur in men. The clinical manifestation is a painless, relatively active, enlarged lump that is generally not attached to the skin. This lump is often found during a physical examination or breast scan. An uncommon manifestation is that in young pregnant women, the breasts may rapidly enlarge in a short period of time, and bilateral lumps may be palpable. Histological examination shows Burkitt or Burkitt-like lymphoma. Breast lymphoma is more common on the right side, with 30% to 40% of axillary lymph nodes affected, and its texture is softer than that of solid tumors.
