What is metastatic lung cancer? Everyone has heard of lung cancer, but not many people know about metastatic lung cancer. In fact, metastatic lung cancer is also a type of lung cancer. So, let me introduce to you what metastatic lung cancer is and how to treat it. Metastatic lung cancer refers to a tumor that metastasizes to the lungs from any part of the body through various metastatic pathways. About 60% or more of malignant tumors have metastases when they are first diagnosed, of which 30% to 50% metastasize to the lungs. The incidence of tumors metastasizing to the lungs varies from one part of the body to another. Among them, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer, choriocarcinoma, and osteosarcoma have the highest incidence, which can reach 60% to 90%. Liver cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and prostate cancer are second, at 35% to 55%. The lungs are the only organ to which osteosarcoma and chondrosarcoma can metastasize. The incidence of lung metastasis is related to the biological characteristics of the primary tumor and the body's immune function. In addition, the occurrence of metastatic lung cancer is related to abnormalities in some tumor-related genes and signal pathways. Metastatic lung cancer is mostly multiple lesions throughout both lungs, with different sizes and uniform density. There is currently no effective treatment for these advanced cancer cases. In a few cases, surgical treatment can be considered for only a single isolated metastatic lesion in the lung. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are the three main treatments for metastatic lung cancer. The choice of treatment depends on the status of the primary tumor, the type, location, number of metastatic lung cancer and the general condition of the patient. Surgery is the first choice for metastatic lung cancer treatment and is currently the standard treatment for metastatic lung cancer. If there is no metastasis to other parts of the body, lung metastasis resection can achieve a radical cure. Many tumors are not sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, such as soft tissue sarcoma lung metastasis, surgery is the most important treatment. From an economic point of view, the cost-effectiveness ratio of surgery is also higher. However, the final choice depends on the doctor's guidance. |
