Stomach bloating and flatulence are common phenomena in daily life. Generally speaking, they are gastrointestinal diseases. The milder symptoms are that the stomach becomes bloated and bigger, and flatulence occurs frequently. When it is serious, it may even cause pain and cause the patient to roll around in bed. There are many reasons for abdominal bloating. For example, indigestion can cause food fermentation to produce gas. In addition, intestinal gas excretion disorders often prevent the gas from being discharged normally, which can also cause symptoms of intestinal flatulence. In addition, liver and gallbladder diseases cannot promote bile metabolism and cannot digest food normally, which can easily cause intestinal bloating and flatulence. (1) Food fermentation Normally, there are large numbers of bacteria in the lower ileum and ascending colon. If the chyme stays in this section of the intestine for too long for some reason, the bacteria may cause the chyme to ferment, produce a large amount of gas, and cause abdominal distension. (2) Inhalation of air Intestinal bloating is caused by inhaling a large amount of air while eating due to talking or bad eating habits. (3) Gas absorption disorder in the gastrointestinal tract Under normal circumstances, most of the gas in the abdominal cavity is absorbed by the blood vessels in the intestinal wall and then exhaled out of the body through the lungs. In some diseases, blood circulation in the intestinal wall is impaired, affecting the absorption of gas in the intestinal cavity, thus causing abdominal bloating. (4) Obstruction of gas discharge from the gastrointestinal tract For some reasons, the intestinal peristalsis function is weakened or disappears, so the gas in the intestinal cavity cannot be discharged from the body, causing abdominal distension. If the gas accumulated in the body cannot be discharged, it will cause pressure on the digestive system, causing people to feel uncomfortable such as bloating and even pain. Frequent gas discharge (commonly known as farting), burping, bloating or pain are problems that occur almost every day for many people who lead a fast-paced and stressed life. There are two main sources of gas in the human digestive tract. One is the external air entering the body. When you talk incessantly, chew gum, drink beverages with a straw, or swallow food whole, a lot of air also goes down into the stomach. Another source is produced when bacteria in the large intestine break down food. |
