Treatment for early ovarian cancer

Treatment for early ovarian cancer

When suffering from ovarian cancer, the patient will experience pain in the lower abdomen. This is a common symptom. Because in the early stages, the symptoms are relatively mild and few people will notice it. It is often discovered that the disease has reached the middle or late stages by the time it is treated. Generally, ovarian cancer can be cured in the early stages, so don't miss the best time for treatment.

A. Surgical treatment: It is the most important means of treating ovarian malignant tumors. Unless it is clinically estimated that the tumor cannot be removed or there are contraindications to surgery, surgery should be performed first.

1. Comprehensive and staged laparotomy: Applicable to patients with ovarian cancer diagnosed as stage I before surgery. It includes total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy, pelvic and para-aortic lymph node dissection, and peritoneal cytology (ascites or pelvic and peritoneal lavage fluid).

2. Tumor cytoreductive surgery: Applicable to cases above stage II.

3. Secondary exploratory surgery: within 1 year after successful tumor cell reduction surgery, at least 6 courses of chemotherapy were implemented, and clinical examination and auxiliary examination (including tumor markers such as CA125) were normal, then laparotomy was performed again.

B. Radiotherapy: Most malignant tumors are not well treated by various radiotherapies. Therefore, radiotherapy is not considered first in the treatment of malignant ovarian tumors. For patients who have been confirmed to have malignant ovarian tumors that cannot be completely removed by laparotomy, external X-ray irradiation can be performed. However, patients with a large amount of ascites should not undergo radiotherapy.

C. Chemotherapy: Ovarian cancer mostly responds well to chemotherapy. In recent years, chemotherapy for tumors has made rapid progress and plays an important role in the treatment of ovarian cancer. It plays a positive role in improving the treatment effect of ovarian malignant tumors. It can be used as an auxiliary treatment for surgery and is often used before, during and after surgery. However, it often requires intermittent medication for a long period of time, and the toxic reaction to the human body is sometimes greater. In most cases, it is difficult to completely remove the primary foci and metastatic foci of ovarian cancer by surgery, especially the implantation of small granular nodules; some patients are not willing to undergo surgical treatment. At this time, comprehensive treatment with chemotherapy as the main treatment should be considered.

D. Treatment with Chinese medicine: Due to the rapid growth of tumors, patients in the late stage suffer from malnutrition and weight loss, forming cachexia. Treatment methods that are too traumatic or have too many side effects are no longer suitable for patients with advanced ovarian cancer. For patients with mid-to-late stage ovarian cancer, conservative treatment with Chinese medicine is the main method, which can effectively improve the patient's quality of life, improve cachexia, eliminate ascites, strengthen the body, and maximize the patient's survival time.

Traditional Chinese medicine also plays a certain role in the treatment of ovarian cancer. The main purpose is to regulate the body. If traditional Chinese medicine is used before surgery, it can improve the success rate of the surgery to a certain extent. If it is used after surgery, it can also improve the patient's quality of life and prognosis survival rate.
