What kind of exercise is effective for colon cancer

With the improvement of people's living standards and the development of Westernized lifestyles, colorectal cancer is increasing rapidly at a rate of nearly 3% per year, and it is getting worse. Few people take physical exercise or change their diet to promote recovery and prevent recurrence. So what kind of exercise is effective for colorectal cancer?

It is generally believed that healthy individuals who do not have cancer can prevent cancer by improving their diet or exercising, but little was known in the past about whether cancer survivors can also prevent recurrence by doing so. Now, multiple research results in Western countries have shown that this is equally effective. Based on their research results, doctors at the Harvard Cancer Research Institute believe that patients who walk at a moderate speed for one hour a day, six days a week, can reduce the recurrence rate of colon cancer by half. The so-called one-hour moderate walking means walking 2 to 3 miles per hour. Even walking at a moderate speed for one hour only one day a week can reduce the risk of recurrence by ten percent. And this result is consistent regardless of the patient's gender, body mass index, number of positive lymph nodes, age or baseline functional status. This conclusion has been confirmed by various similar studies.

Strengthening physical exercise can not only reduce the recurrence rate, but also significantly increase the overall survival period. The risk of death also decreases with the increase in exercise. The risk of death is reduced by one third for those who walk at a moderate speed for 1 hour for 3 to 7 days a week. The risk of death is reduced by 69% for those who walk at a moderate speed for more than 1 hour every day for 7 days a week. It is also found that this situation has nothing to do with whether exercise was performed before the onset of the disease.

Exercising more can help reduce the risk of colorectal cancer recurrence and is beneficial to maintaining health.
