How to prevent pancreatic cancer

How to prevent pancreatic cancer

The early symptoms of pancreatic cancer are upper abdominal discomfort, dull pain, bloating, and abdominal discomfort or pain that worsens after meals. Another significant symptom is loss of appetite and changes in eating habits, such as aversion to greasy and high-animal protein foods. So, how can we effectively prevent pancreatic cancer? Let's find out.

1. Quit drinking

Although there is no definitive answer on whether drinking alcohol causes pancreatic cancer, reducing alcohol consumption, especially drinking less or no alcoholic beverages, can prevent pancreatitis and may also prevent or reduce the likelihood of pancreatic cancer. In addition, the combined effects of smoking, drinking, and consuming a high-fat, high-protein diet should be avoided.

2. Quit smoking

In particular, young people should be educated not to smoke. The amount of cigarettes smoked per day and the length of smoking years are positively correlated with the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. People who start smoking in adolescence are more likely to develop pancreatic cancer.

Three: Promote a low-fat, low-protein, high-fiber and high-vitamin diet

Gold et al. found that fresh fruits and vegetables can prevent the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. The survey conducted by Correa et al. in Los Angeles also showed that fruits or orange juice (containing vitamin C) can significantly reduce the incidence of pancreatic cancer. Farrow and Davis' research believes that fruits, vegetables and vitamins A and C have nothing to do with the incidence of pancreatic cancer, but increasing calcium intake can reduce the chance of pancreatic cancer, especially for men over 65 years old. Some data show that a high-calorie diet caused by a large increase in the proportion of carbohydrates in the diet is positively correlated with the occurrence of pancreatic cancer, while a long-term high-fiber diet is negatively correlated with the occurrence of pancreatic cancer. In addition, reduce the consumption of coffee, especially avoid drinking decaffeinated coffee.

4. Reduce environmental pathogenic factors

Good environmental factors play an important role in preventing pancreatic cancer. Exposure to radioactive substances should be reduced or avoided, and good protective measures should be taken for people working with radioactivity. The chance of viral infection should be reduced, especially epidemic viral infection. Avoid long-term contact with substances related to the occurrence of pancreatic cancer, such as certain metals, coke, coal gas, asbestos, degreasers, β-naphtholamine, benzidine, methylcholanthrene, N-nitrosomethylamine, acetylaminofluorene and hydrocarbons, and take good protective measures as much as possible.

5. Reduce or prevent related diseases

To reduce the incidence of pancreatic cancer, appropriate measures should be taken to prevent diabetes, chronic pancreatitis and cholelithiasis. Women's health care should be improved to avoid multiple abortions, oophorectomy and endometrial hyperplasia. Various endocrine disorders should be corrected in a timely manner.

Warm reminder: Pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect in its early stages, and is not sensitive to radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, and other treatments. Therefore, the prevention of pancreatic cancer is more important than other tumors. Patients should eat more green vegetables and fruits. It is recommended to eat more cucumbers, tomatoes, tomatoes, grapefruits, etc., increase vitamin C, vitamin E, etc., and supplement minerals such as calcium and selenium.
