Can esophageal cancer be cured?

In recent years, the incidence of esophageal cancer in China has been increasing, and the number of patients has increased and is showing a trend of younger age. So can esophageal cancer be cured? If esophageal cancer is diagnosed in the early stages and treatment begins in time, the possibility of cure is high. Let's introduce it to you below.

For patients who have been diagnosed with early and middle stage esophageal cancer, we should seize the opportunity to increase their nutrition comprehensively, give them soft food or semi-liquid food containing high protein and high vitamins, and try our best to utilize the absorption function of their gastrointestinal tract to supplement more nutrition so that patients can be in better physical condition.
Surgical treatment: Surgery is the first choice for treating early esophageal cancer. Once esophageal cancer patients are diagnosed, they should be treated with surgery if their physical condition allows. Depending on the condition, there are two types of surgery: palliative surgery and radical surgery.
Palliative surgery is mainly used for patients in the late stage who cannot be cured or after radiotherapy, using esophageal gastric diversion, esophageal catheterization, gastrostomy, etc. to solve the problem of eating difficulties.
Radical surgery depends on the location of the lesion and the specific conditions of the patient. In principle, most of the esophagus should be removed, and the range of esophageal resection should be at least 5 cm away from the tumor. The surgical resection rate for lower segment cancer is 90%, for middle segment cancer is 50%, and for upper segment cancer is 56.3% to 92.9% on average.
